It seems that quite a few lawyers have had enough of Blondi’s blatant partisan work, and they are stating so. This was quite something to do, and if we can keep up with it, so much the better. It makes us wish we’d come up with something this mean and cool at the same time. Thank you, Raw Story:
A group of criminal defense attorneys has launched a war against the Trump Department of Justice’s “abnormal behavior,” according to a report. The lawyers banded together and created a tool called Case Tracker, a database of federal cases in which eyewitness testimony undermines government charges. The tracker is sponsored by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, KBPS reported.
“We created the Case Tracker because you cannot defend against an enemy you cannot see,” Steven Salky, a lawyer in the Washington, D.C., area who oversees the project, told the outlet. “The Tracker is intended to spotlight for the next several years the unusual cases being prosecuted by the Department of Justice.”
Hmmm. The DoJ? Unusual cases? Where did they get *that* idea? Hah. They probably didn’t want to use “Revenge Tour”. Possible political repercussions and losing their law license. We still can. But think about this a moment. A *group of criminal defense attorneys* put this together to *track cases*. The DoJ and their ‘abnormal behavior’ have been noticed. Hell, the DoJ is in the news nearly every damn day. Blondi is screwing up one thing after another. But who can hold *them* to account? It won’t be SCOTUS, that’s for sure. And there’s *definitely* no one that can hold SCOTUS to account. Sure, they’ve gotten this fancy new program that will handle recusals, but as to whether they’ll *use* it is a damn good question. In other words, no guardrails on the DoJ *or* SCOTUS. This does not give me warm, fuzzy feelings of confidence. Pardon the ramble.
President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice has been heavily scrutinized for filing frivolous charges against perceived political enemies. For instance, the Department of Justice has pursued mortgage fraud charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James, who secured a fraud conviction against Trump, and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who led Trump’s impeachment efforts during his first term.
If I remember correctly, the appeals court wiped out the payment for fraud. Things jumble together sometimes, especially at oh dark hundred. The Femme Fatales attorneys have been failing left, right, and center. Lindsey Hooligan, Alina Habba Dabba Doo, Jeanine ‘Poorro’, and head …. better not say that. Head bleached blonde bimbo Pam Blondi with her lips firmly attached to Trump. *ahem* And remember, somehow, they would get an indictment and then throw the case on another prosecutor who has to go in blind. And “this sucks”. I truly hope the overworked lady in Minneapolis finally got some rest. Seriously.
The Trump administration has also moved to charge average Americans with trumped-up charges as well. Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C., tried to charge a protester with assault after he threw a sandwich at federal officers. A federal grand jury declined to charge the individual after deliberating for just 30 minutes. “This tracker is an essential tool for an era where federal overreach has become the standard operating procedure,” NACDL Executive Director Lisa Wayne told KPBS.
Ah, yes, Sandwich Guy. Hopefully, his lawyer didn’t charge him too much since it all got thrown out, felony or misdemeanor. We would expect that a lawyer would look at this and think something to the effect of “this is silly. Let’s clobber them”. It really was silly. And overblown. A sandwich.
