If you’re looking for a mean spirited, transgender bashing scene, you won’t find any better than CPAC in Dallas this weekend. Forget about civility or subtlety, the claws are out and the animals are vicious.

That is pretty ugly. It also doesn’t take into account the fact that a transvestite and a transsexual are two different things. Not that it matters. We get it. The umbrella word is “fag” and it encompasses everything and it’s synonymous with hate. We get it.
Then Caitlyn Jenner was harassed.

Now I am no defender of Caitlyn Jenner. I think she’s the laughing stock of politics, and that is due to the fact that she has no idea what she’s talking about when she opens her mouth. That’s fair game for criticism. Her sexual identity or expression are not what puts me off, her ignorance and arrogance are.
Plus, what is wrong with this harassment on a very basic level, is that Jenner is a Republican, running for office, and she is at a convention of Republicans. To attack her like this does not make a good statement about the GOP, but then again, unless you’ve been living in a cave for a while, Republicans hate the entire LGBTQ world. And if this is how LGBTQ candidates are going to be treated, the GOP will see precious few.
In Jenner’s case, I don’t think she is seriously running for office. My impression is that she’s a showboater and she wants the attention. Nevertheless, if she’s a registered Republican and in a legitimate race, she deserves to be treated as such.
Earlier I said the “C” in CPAC should stand for cesspool. Forget that. Cauldron of bigotry is my new take on it.
I can’t figure out how she couldn’t see this coming, after the last year of anti-LGBTQ bills in all the red states.
And all of the ugly public comments that have been made by that side of politics.
She’s a prime example of “white privilege” that many LGBTQ+ people of color routinely call out. I mean just consider the worst that happens to Jenner is some name-calling and mocking while her trans-sisters of color have a greater chance of being killed while they’re getting called names. (It should also be noted that “conservative” LGBTQ+ people are utterly deluded because they wholeheartedly support that “trickle-down” economic theory and are more concerned with tax cuts than equality. They believe that “true” equality only comes with economic success while ignoring the vast number of LGBTQ+ people who live even more hand-to-mouth than the average person; many, especially the vulnerable young and members of the trans community–mostly women but some men–end up doing sex work because they have no other options.)
Sadly, being a fool is something she didn’t transition out of. And she’s chosen to join her enemies in the mistaken belief that they will become her allies.
I think that, like many of us, she suffers from an ancient Chinese curse.

She must be truly dense to not realize which party supports her right to choose her own gender identity! And which one doesn’t.
Maybe this has opened her eyes to their political reality. I agree with the white privilege idea, but she also has financial privilege. Like Joseph said, many of the less fortunate live hand to mouth and don’t have physical safety, regardless of their race.
