It’s still so common to hear the never ending harangue of who is “fighting for the soul” of the Republican party, that it’s refreshing to hear chess champion Garry Kasparov simplify matters and state the plain reality that the GOP of yore is already long gone and what is in its place is an entity hell bent on undermining democracy. Having lived in an authoritarian regime, Kasparov is in a position to recognize the signs.
To those talking about how the Republicans are "destroying the party" or themselves, that's not how this works. This IS the party now. They are destroying those who oppose them and the US system of democracy, which relies on the people's faith in it.

That’s pretty basic. Right now there is no desire to crush the Big Lie, so that means the Big Lie is going to crush us all.
And don’t depend upon the renegades in American Renewal to cause a 180 in the GOP or to succeed in starting a third party, based on a return to traditional conservative values.

Kasparov raises a key point: how long can democracy endure if this lie goes on? And if, on top of that, the few Republicans telling the truth are purged from the party?
Can’t wait to see the ‘arguments’ that what he is saying is hyperbole & this will go away because they are too stupid & disorganized to pull off authoritarian rule. Warning to all those who want to argue with him…do you play chess?

As many of us have known for some time, there is no GOP anymore, and no republican party! What was the GOP has become the GQP (Guilty Q-anon Party) and as a result we have the republiQanon party! In other words, the Q-Nuts have taken over the old republican party almost completely, and are in the process of getting rid of any remnants of that republican party, especially if they don’t fully embrace Q-anon. That is why we must destroy the republiQanon party, and make sure that nothing like it can ever exist in this country in the future! I don’t have all of the answers on how to do that, but a good start would be to cut off the flow of lies and disinformation being spewed by the RWQNJs!
