There are two well time honored traditional ways of running for President two years before the general election. The first is, of course, to write a book. Clinton did it with A Place Called Hope, and Obama did it with Dreams for My Father. Others have done the same. With national name recognition, these self gratifying autobiographies are a way to introduce yourself to the voters, as well as raise some kaboodle for the long campaign ahead. On the flip side, especially in the GOP, loser opportunists join the field to pimp some lame ass book they’ve just written to boost sales.
The other way is to run in an election with national implications and attention. And that’s the method Minnesota senior Senator Amy Klobuchar has apparently chosen. That doesn’t mean that a self serving, inspirational autobiography isn’t already in the works, and simply awaiting a timely release.
Let’s just look at the cold, hard facts, shall we? Klobuchar is the senior Senator from Minnesota, a popular figure in her state, in what is widely regarded as a safe seat for her. She is a progressive culture warrior who loves taking the fight to Traitor Tot and the GOP. She should be safe for her career, as long as she desires it to be. And instead she announces that she’s going to run for the position of Governor of Minnesota to replace the outgoing Tim Walz. Why?
Put yourself in my head and think like a politician for a moment. Here, let me move over. There. Amy Klobuchar is an experienced, savvy politician. This is not a decision she made lightly, nor on the spur of the moment. She has been leading up to this for the last almost 4 years, and I can prove it.
In 2020 Klobuchar, who wasn’t up for reelection that year, joined the cattle car that was the 2020 Democratic presidential field. She had no realistic chance of winning. But she did well enough to make the debate stage, and that gave her national name recognition. And in doing reasonably well, she did something even more important for her future. She set up a fledgling, but operational national donor registration base. Teri and I both supported her in the early days.
And she’s already using it. I received her kick off announcement in a text message, and have received several follow up pleas for cash. Make no mistake, this stuff works. Klobuchar supporters in 2020 will be happy to kick in for her gubernatorial run, for sentimental reasons if no other. Hell, I’ll probably kick in a few bucks myself.
So, the national donor base is already reactivated. And Klobuchar will shrewdly use her senatorial position on outlets such as MSNOW to keep herself front-and-center in the national spotlight, even for a statewide race.
With her statewide popularity, I find it hard to believe she will not be a heavy favorite to beat whatever GOP kitty litter box candidate opposes her. And if she comes across the finish line in November, she’s in phat city.
Because she has yet another box to check off on her political presidential resume. Starting in January, she will now have executive experience under her belt. As the Governor of a large midwestern state.
Here is why I believe this is going to be so important. Unlike many people, I don’t believe that 2028 will be the Democratic mosh pit that 2020 was. The national Democratic heavy hitters like Inslee, Pritzker, and Newsome have been jockeying for position for two years now, picking national fights with Traitor Tot over state issues left and right. They all have political chops, national name recognition, and deep war chests. No fringe candidates need apply. And if Klobuchar wins in November, then she joins that elite group, along with Witmer and Hochul.
To my mind, it’s actually the GOP that is much more likely to have national disgrace in their 2028 primaries. Baron von Schitzenpants is not just a lame duck, he’s a dead duck, even his base is fracturing around him. And he’s tuned out.
The Hillbilly Doormat is a national joke. Look for Nikki Hailey to make a strong showing, and the Ratty Swami will probably throw his oar in. Then throw in the perpetual wingnuts like Hackabee Slanders and even Dipsh*t Donnie Jr., and the humiliation is complete.
Plenty of time for things to change, but from where I’m sitting, Amy Klobuchar has spent most of the last six years turning the wheels and meshing the gears for a strong run for the White House in 2028. Don’t touch that dial.
I thank you for the privilege of your time.

Great to hear from you, Murfster35! It’s been a while. And thank you for your thoughts on our Senator Klobuchar. I’ve voted for her every time.
Me too!
Wonderful to hear from y ou again Murfster35!! I’ve missed your insight!
So good to hear from you with your very knowledgeable insights. I’m just not sure a country that voted twice for an evil creature like we have now will ever elect a woman for president.Of course I’ve voted twice for a female president but our country has failed to believe a woman can do the job. Regarding Hilary: a woman told me back then “there’s just something about her”. Of course that “something” was that Hilary was a woman. Still a Patriarchal Country after 250 years!!
Good to have you back in action, Murph! I’ve missed you!
I’m a proud Minnesota Transplant (originally from Colorado), and I also voted for Klobuchar every time. I worry, too, that after Kamala failed to beat tRump (why, Lord? Why?), this country might STILL not be ready for a woman prez. But I would support her and I’m certain she’d do a good job.
