And, pun intended, it serves him right. Remember our new winner of the election in Arizona? He’s refusing to swear her in, and it’s blatantly obvious that he doesn’t want to do it. She would be the last vote needed to force the Epstein files to be released. That is the *last* thing he wants. Trump would clobber him, but then he’s a wimp anyhow. It has to go to the Senate and then to Trump. Even if it does make it to Trump, there’s this nasty little thing that’s called a veto.. It’s not something we like to remember.
Sideways a bit there. Her name is Adelita Grijalva. She’s a Democrat. She’s been waiting. While Grijalva was given keys to her official office in Washington, she doesn’t have access to do anything, which brings us back to our topic for today. What’s going to happen to Mike Johnson? From Raw Story:
Last week, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes sent Speaker Mike Johnson a letter about swearing in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ). She was ignored, so now she’s filing a lawsuit. Speaking to ABC15 on Tuesday, Mayes said she was “within minutes” of filing her lawsuit against Johnson, political reporter Rachel Louise Just posted on X. “Whether it’s the fact that she’s said she’s going to be the final vote on the [Jeffrey] Epstein files or he just doesn’t want to have one more Democrat in office, whatever his motives are they’re totally illigitimate and it’s totally unconstitutional and the case law is on our side as well. So, we feel like we’re going to win this, but obviously we’ll be making the best arguments we can,” said Mayes.
I would think she would certainly know what she’s talking about. Mikey doesn’t want to play ball? Let’s see how he likes this hardball. It’s so obvious that he doesn’t want to swear her in. Anyone with half a brain can figure that out. There’s a way to do so even though the House is on a break. Not sure of the exact process, but there *is* a way. Speaker Johnson doesn’t want to bring her on board.
It has been a month since Grijalva was elected, and Johnson has refused to swear her into the post. He has previously been willing to swear in other members when Congress was not in session, however. Two Florida Republicans were sworn into office during a pro forma session. Johnson could do that again here, but has chosen not to. While Grijalva was given keys to her official office in Washington, she doesn’t have access to phones or email, meaning they can’t receive or respond to constituent questions or requests.
Not to keep flogging a dead horse here, so we’ll give you one last quote. There’s only so much one can talk about this. Mikey doesn’t want to swear her in, pure and simple. So, he’s doing everything he can *NOT* to do so. What’s going to happen when the House comes back from break and she can’t do anything is our next question. To close:
Grijalva alleges that the real reason is that she would be the final vote needed on a discharge petition to force a vote on the immediate release of the files around the Epstein sex trafficking investigation. She told MSNBC, “I do feel like they’re going to do everything they possibly can to have things permanently redacted. The longer these files are, sort of, sitting, you under who has access to them, how much of any of that is going to be complete when the American people finally see it.”
Exactly. What’s going to be left? Anything? Or are they trying to redact everything so all we get will be a few sentences that are bland and tell us nothing? We could bet on that now. Remember, 1000 agents from the FBI to review all the files? You know they’ve been covering up Trump’s name because he damn well is in them. We know that just from the pictures that have come out. And we know that Mikey is dragging his feet on our newest House member. The longer we have to wait, the more people want them released, and this includes MAGA. Good times.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Well, this is an issue that doesn’t involve Drumpf’s veto power. The veto only applies BILLS. The release of the Epstein files is closer to what’s involved in a Congressional investigation. Drumpf could order the DOJ to not release the files but that would ultimately wind up in front of SCOTUS, especially as pretty much everyone knows the DOJ ordered agents to go through the files specifically to “scrub” any mention of Drumpf.
And, considering Drumpf himself ran for office last year DEMANDING the release of the files and PROMISING he would order the release after he took office (oh, if only Biden had ordered the release about 10 days before the election . . . .), we could find certain members of SCOTUS having to figure out the line when it’s okay to break a campaign promise.
