We have come a long way in the past two, three months. A few months ago when gas prices were outlandishly high, there was talk of the “red tsunami.” A bloodbath, we were assured. At least 40 seats.
Then that quieted down and became a theory about how we would lose the House but but but it might only be by a small margin. That was the theory I was jumping on top of, with the caveat that we might in fact be able to keep the House.
Now listen to an analysis by Simon Rosenberg on That Trippi Show, which goes there and tells us how we can maintain both chambers of congress. Yes.
This is a GREAT episode https://t.co/MdcsUHKJzq

Here is a link to the entire 49:22 show. You will be happy you listened.
It must have struck a nerve. There are already comments posting in Rick Wilson’s feed, “Don’t believe the Marxist Democratic propaganda.”
Here’s what I see as the bottom line: the election has become a referendum on Trump, which is the best thing that could possibly have happened. It is also the one thing that the RNC did not want to happen, under any circumstances. But it has and now they’re stuck with it.
The RNC now has to go full MAGA or it has to try to do damage control. The one piece of damage control I have personally seen was one, one-minute promo by Trump telling people to go out and vote — rigged elections and all, go out and vote. Since that time, bupkis.
I think we may be having a very different conversation in two months. I am also coming to thoroughly believe that we are living in the equivalent of 1854, which is when the Whig party collapsed. It couldn’t hold together over the main division of slavery. We have a major schism in the Republican party of today, over basically the same thing. We can call it Culture War, but it is in fact a division between the worst fringe elements of the GOP, and whatever is left of the actual conservative wing of the party.
I see a new party forming, maybe under a new name. Under no circumstances can the GOP continue along the lines that they are going now and win. Such is my belief. As I said before, if we take a real beating and lose the House badly, or God forbid lose both the House and Senate, I’ll buy the cream pies and you can throw them at me. If that’s the case, I’ll be too depressed to care anyhow, toss away.

I recently saw an article posted on Aug. 11, just three days after the Mar-a-Lago search, saying that “Trump advisers” were telling GOP politicians to tone down their anti-FBI/DOJ rhetoric. Why? Because they knew that the narrative would get worse for Trump. Weird, that these same advisers have no actual influence on Trump to tone down his rantings. They can only try to contain the damage by warning others within the GOP. They merely had to say that it wouldn’t be wise to comment on an ongoing investigation, but wisdom within the GOP is in very short supply these days.
Goes to show you that you cant believe everything you read. The raid on Trump’s home was a mistake by Biden. Trumps approval rating went up 5% a few days after the raid. Try reading around.
The execution of the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago was necessary because you can’t have Top Secret documents out floating around. This isn’t about a popularity contest. This is about national security.
Not a raid: FBI had a valid search warrant. Warranted in part because Trump’s lawyers confirmed all confidential documents had been returned. They lied and got caught. Trump’s actions are indefensible.
I’ve been pretty confident for a while now that we would hold the Senate and add 2-5 seats. But the House has, until recently, been a concern. After Pat Ryan won NY-19 against a non-MAGA rethug, several pundits noted that there are 222 seats that have a higher democratic PVI. Voila, majority. But we cannot get complacent because things look good now. We need to continue to do the work.
You are absolutely 100% right. We need, always, to campaign like we’re ten points behind and drive out the vote.
