Well, now, this is something. Apparently, it doesn’t matter that she’s not AG anymore. She actually still may have a *legal* obligation to fulfill, and she’s not going to like it. There could be legal repercussions if she doesn’t show, at a guess. She made some pretty big and obvious mistakes during her tenure. She still has to answer for them, and that’s something. It’s almost a relief that she still has to do this. And we can actually hope this is a closed-door session, because it means there won’t be any time limits for questions. We were bitten by that last time. Indebtedness to Raw Story:

Ousted Attorney General Pam Bondi was hit with a fierce reminder Friday that, despite being fired by President Donald Trump this week, she still had a legal obligation to testify before Congress on the Justice Department’s handling of its release of files on Jeffrey Epstein. Bondi was axed by Trump earlier this week over what reports suggest was the president’s frustration with both her handling of the DOJ’s release of files on Epstein and her inability to secure criminal convictions of his perceived enemies. However, Todd Blanche – who Trump named as Bondi’s temporary successor – has refuted the claim that Trump fired Bondi over matters related to Epstein.

Well, go me, I guessed right in the introduction. She does have to show. We can hope she gets raked over the coals, especially since they have not all been released yet. After Blanche’s little jaunt with Ghislaine and her new perks, will he release any more? There is still a legal obligation to fulfill on the release of the Epstein files. We all know there are more. Hmmm, could he legally be forced to continue? It is a law. He’s not exactly smart, even being a lawyer, but he could want to get it over with and just dump them. Or he is smart, but his loyalties aren’t. We’ll have to wait and see.

On March 17, Bondi was scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on April 14 regarding her agency’s handling of its release of files on Epstein. While Bondi is now headed to a job in the private sector, Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM), who sits on the House Oversight Committee, said Friday that Bondi was not off the hook.

Oooo goody! We can’t be certain we’ll get some answers, but they can still try. Hopefully, anything that comes out of this will be worth it. Will they release anything? Heh, it probably won’t because of Republicans, but we can still hope. They’re in a bad spot with midterms coming up, and releasing part or all of the transcript could help them.

Let us be clear: AG or not – Pam Bondi is still legally required to appear for her deposition under oath in front of the Oversight Committee on April 14th,” Stansbury wrote in a social media post on X. “We will be expecting you. And we will be holding Bondi and Todd Blanche accountable for their handling of the Epstein case.” Stansbury is just the latest lawmaker to call for Bondi to testify in the wake of her firing, and is joined by several Democratic lawmakers and at least one Republican lawmaker, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who noted that the subpoena issued to Bondi was specifically writtenby name, not by or not as the sitting attorney general of the U.S.”

Hmmmmm, so we’re *not* sure after all that Bondi will show up. She still does have a legal obligation. Since I’m not sure how it works, I can’t say for certain that she will appear. Since she is listed by name and not position, well, it may or may not happen. Once again, we’ll have to wait. I’m crossing my fingers.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
