Okay, there will be some quotes stuck in here or there, but right now, I am most thoroughly pissed! What in the hell does Trump think he’s doing in Venezuela??!!! Because this is some bullshit! Are we at war or not? Did we just snatch the leader of a country and drag him and his wife out of bed, and they’re in their *nightclothes*? Did they think to bring along regular clothes, or are they still in their nightwear? Good gods. From CNN:
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were dragged from their bedroom by US forces during the raid that led to their capture, two sources familiar with the matter said. The couple was captured in the middle of the night as they were sleeping, the sources said. The raid, carried out by the US Army’s elite Delta Force, did not lead to any US casualties, a US official said.
Well, no casualties, so I guess that’s a good sign … I guess. But that’s only for Maduo and his wife. I couldn’t immediately find anything about his son. Another check on CNN sees they are on the way to New York, where Maduro (and his wife and son?) will be tried for drug charges and something else I can’t find again. There could be some pseudo-other charges. And no, I don’t know why I’m so indignant about them being dragged out of bed. Come *on*, US, get yer act together. Ah. Update from my awesome husband. They did at least let them get dressed.
But. We *kidnapped* the leader of a *country* and his family. Kidnapped. This is so, so wrong. And yes, this is definitely some bullshit, too. What in god’s name does Trump think he’s doing? How about international crimes? That’s not some small thing!! I’m sorry, all, but I do not get it. I do not understand this. It’s not just kidnapping. It’s what the hell are we doing with the kidnapping, and now we’re going to *occupy* ANOTHER COUNTRY..
We just recently (thank you, former President Biden, sloppy as it was)got out of Afghanistan!!!! And a few years later, we’re doing it all again, except in reverse. We are going back IN to another country. Dammit. What the hell is Trump*DOING*??? He won’t support Ukraine, and that’s HUGE. We should be doing something about that, and Ukraine needs to keep ALL of its territory. Trump didn’t stop that, or any other war, in one day. We don’t need to do this!!!! *ahem*embarrassed* got sidetracked for a moment there. Ukraine is a touchy subject for me. Yup, still not completely awake yet. More coffee.

Trump claimed the US would do so until a “proper and judicious transition” occurs, but he did not provide further details. The US embargo on Venezuelan oil will remain in place, Trump said.
Y’all, we are so screwed—first, the kidnapping. Next, the occupation of another country (again). Embargo on oil so he can get all of it for his plans in the USA. We *have* to know he wants all that lovely oil. We’ll see tankers leaving port in the middle of the night so Trump can discretely, if *that* ever happens, get that lovely oil for us, even if no one else can. Trump is anything but discreet.
Folks, I know this is disjointed, and I hop around a lot. I apologize for that. I am just furious about this, and I can’t scream loudly enough for the ones who need to hear it to listen. So it comes out in an opinion piece because I can’t reach high enough to smack some people. We are in another war, having recently gotten out of one, generally speaking. It’s disgusting. And yes, I need to find a new word. Heh. Oh, one other thing? I’ll bet the Secretary of *Defense* is having far too much fun ordering the military around. It’s going to come back and bite him, too. Oh, no. He still fully expects the rest of the world to see how much peace he’s creating with his actions.
I just really hope he understands he’s just put a very big target on his own butt from other nations that might decide they’ve now been given the proverbial green light to kidnap him (or any other member of his family–or pretty much any high-ranking US official, for that matter) whenever they want to attempt it.
It’s funny how he didn’t think to do this to Putin when Putin was on US soil.
But Drumpf really has shown that he is now a “rogue” actor on the world stage. And the Secretary-General of the UN might very well now be looking to move the organization’s headquarters out of New York.
Ouch, great point! That kidnapping pissed me off more than I can say, *ahem* which is obvious in the column I wrote. Who wants to bet on the next person to get kidnapped? It may sound facetious but it’s still worth considering. Add in taking over a *country* where we can be 99% positive that Trump will just take as much oil as possible and not do a damn thing about the people who need it. Well, he’s just get further and further away from getting one. Taking over a country that had not done anything to America (except for cocaine, NOT fentanyl) is just brazen baloney. He wants to rule the world and that’s not going to happen, especially with Putin. Maybe they’re going to split it up. Heh and Ha.
Putin would NEVER split the planet up with tRump. He’d use Donnie’s Big Beautiful Hair to mop up the blood from their collective conquests and kick Donnie’s lifeless body into the gutter.
“We will run the country…” Just as he has run the US? Poor Venezuela just got poorer. A lot poorer, with the help of Chevron and other Big Oil. Not to mention the probability of a quiet grift with the cartels. Odds, anyone?
I wonder if Venezuela is about to experience the joys of tariffs? He’ll have to capsize their stock market so he can send it plunging, then buy a heap of stock before artificially inflating it, thereby rewarding himself and his cabal with a few billion more.
