Yes, this story is a one-trick pony and deserves to die a quiet death. But we are bringing you back for the finale, the endgame, of Trump’s flub, just for a few moments of your time. After all, we wouldn’t want him to feel neglected, would we, yes, no? Another interesting tidbit is that my source is the same one I used yesterday, but the site is treating this as a brand-new story today, even though it was actually from yesterday. President Donald Trump went on another one of his tirades against wind energy and misidentified the national symbol. The 79-year-old president posted an image of a dead bird lying beneath a turbine late Tuesday, accompanied with the lament, “Windmills are killing all of our beautiful Bald Eagles!” But eagle-eyed social media users noticed the photo showed a falcon, and not a bald eagle, and appeared to be taken in another country entirely.
So there’s the first part of our story. Trump ranted about something and showed the wrong picture. This was covered yesterday, so there’s no need to go into the details again. The biggest thing is that he flubbed and embarrassed himself, even though he is so careful about his image. Why someone didn’t check on that picture, well, we’ll never know. Moving along:
Hebrew writing on the turbine indicated the photo came from Israel, and The Guardian tracked down its origins to Hedy Ben Eliahou, an employee of Israel’s Nature and Parks Authority, and was used in a 2017 report that was published by the news outlet Haaretz. Social media users swooped in to attack the president’s blunder, and the Department of Energy, which shared Trump’s post, drew a community note on X. “The image is not of a U.S. bald eagle,” read the community note. “It shows a falcon killed by a wind turbine in Israel in 2017. The photo appears in a Haaretz article by Zafrir Rinat published Dec. 20, 2017.”
Baadaa bing baadaa boom. It’s been traced to and verified as coming from somewhere else. Note that he still hasn’t done a disclaimer or correction. It seems his “rage” is off-camera, and he doesn’t want to embarrass himself even further. That would be the smart thing to do, but … Trump has proved he isn’t smart time and time again. (Do you ever wonder if they’ve put plastic over the walls of the White House to protect against the ketchup bottles?) But I digress:

There you have it. Saved the best part for last, which may generate laughter or groans, because really, this is embarrassing for not only Trump, but us as a nation that elected him. He doesn’t know what a bald eagle looks like. He doesn’t know. How can this man not know something that simple? Perhaps it was covered in the classes he didn’t bother to attend in college. Eh, no, he really is that stupid.
