This is getting to be entertaining! Someone has some words for Hegseth after his BS speech last week, and they are great! Talk about telling it like it is. This person just nails him to the wall. Hope you enjoy this. From, again, Raw Story, which has been spot on with the observations thus far:

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth must realize his key warrior ethos is off base, or face “peril,” according to a retired military officer on Saturday. Robert McTague, a retired military officer who did two tours in Iraq and also served in Kuwait, Qatar, Korea, Croatia, Romania, and Turkey, said that Hegseth “comes across as a bit of a car salesman” in his pitch before top generals from around the world. Regarding some of Hegseth’s proposals, McTague found that they weren’t cost-efficient. “I have no freaking idea where he thinks he’s going to get all the money to build these extra platforms he mentioned—we’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars in new expenditures, at least,” he wrote.

Yikes! (And it gets better!) Petey Boy doesn’t think things through. He wants drones and submarines and troops and and and, oh my! Well, for one thing, these take *time* to build and train. And as you saw in the quote, money. A whole LOT of money. Where in the hell could he get the money for all this? His budget isn’t *that* big, and this would wipe it out for a year, at least, at a guess. Sheesh, what an imbecile, just like his boss. The Yahoos continue to babble, y’know. To continue:

McTague went on to note that Hegseth neglected a key part of what makes the military not a meritocracy. “The single biggest counter-merit thing I ever saw in the military was nepotism (some of it mind-bogglingly egregious). But I didn’t hear one mention of that in this speech,” he wrote on Saturday. “Maybe it’s because all those Civil War legacy families in the Army from the former Confederacy would scream bloody murder.”

Ahahahahaha, well said, sir! On the other hand, even with my brother and Pz writer and friend Denis being in the Marines, nothing was said about nepotism. *That* was startling. It’s certainly not something that ever came up, that is recalled from them. He is correct, though. There was not one mention of this in his inane speech. It would have been mentioned at the very least if he had. Now, Mr. McTague continues to shred Petey Boy’s BS.

“But probably the biggest issue,” McTague said, was “with Hegseth opening the door on leader behavior.” “First, the idea that the modern military has castrated itself and can no longer yell, enforce punishment, etc. is hogwash.” The retired official added, “I think the whole ‘we need to be able to kill things’ message and tone were misleading, childish, and misguided, with subtle notes of fashy (will to power, y’all) and here’s why: We live in a frighteningly complex world, with layers and layers of things that, no matter how much will and savagery you want to muster, matter. Ignore at your own peril. Ask Bibi.”

The end of Robert’s statement is the killer. Petey Boy, with his ranting and raving, was not impressive at all. That was obvious after the first sentence. We’ve written about it here at Pz. Petey Boy more embarrassed himself than anything else. He’s such a good subject to discuss. He’s an idiot just like his boss (whose speech was even more under impressive and a bit frightening). But let’s get back to Robert. To close:

“And this idea that our military has failed (um, when?) because we couldn’t be bada– enough is entirely fictional. Ask the Russians how that whole ‘We don’t give a f—, kill with impunity’ thing is going for them right now,” he said. “Bad strategic decisions aren’t bad because we never truly invested in killing our way out of the problem.”

SCORCHED. *That* was the best part to save for last. Mr. McTague was an officer in the Armed Forces. HE knows what he’s talking about. Hegseth doesn’t. He has all these BS things going on (Lie detectors covered by Denis here) because he’s so paranoid about leaks and people and so on. Petey Boy needs to stop doing stupid things. Then he wouldn’t have to worry so much about “leaks”.

He won’t, but damn, that’s a good thought. He won’t just leave the job. Trump won’t fire him because that would be admitting he made a huge mistake. So, we will have to get enjoyment from the stupid things he does because we’re stuck with him, for now. He’s considering running for the Tennessee governor position. Here’s hoping he doesn’t screw up the military and the Pentagon too much in the meantime. Paranoid Hegseth is paranoid.

Friends, I know everyone asks you for money. I promise you, of all the outlets asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
