This pisses me off more and more every day! *Why* are they fighting this so hard? They admitted they screwed up! But it’s all “no, no, we can’t bring him back” with the reasons getting more and more ridiculous every day. This makes no sense. “He is under El Salvador’s jurisdiction now”. No, we are paying them SIX MILLION DOLLARS to hold our supposed “gang members”. I think that means returning him wouldn’t be terribly hard. El Salvador is holding *our* prisoners, for heaven’s sake! The only information they’ve provided is “he is alive and secure”. Secure *how*?? He can’t possibly be separated from the rest of the prisoners. Not in that place.

So here’s the latest. They protested Judge Paula Xinis’ order to return Kilmar to the US, by a certain time and day, up to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court said the judge’s order lacked clarity and sent it back down, saying the government is supposed to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar. The Supreme Court noted the clarification needed to be made with “due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs.” So, she clarified the order. They are *still* fighting it! Here’s the latest from CNN: “The administration, the Justice Department lawyers wrote in the Sunday filing, understands ‘facilitate’ to mean what that term has long meant in the immigration context, namely actions allowing an alien to enter the United States. Taking ‘all available steps to ‘facilitate’ the return of Abrego Garcia is thus best read as taking all available steps to remove any domestic obstacles that would otherwise impede the alien’s ability to return here,” they continued. “Indeed, no other reading of ‘facilitate’ is tenable—or constitutional — here.” What does that mean in English, not lawyer speak?

I’ll make a guess. In other words, they aren’t going to do a damn thing. The longer he is in that prison, the more worried I get. Remove all domestic obstacles? That means nothing. He could come back, but *they* are not going to do it. In a different article, the news reported they are getting ready to send another plane of ‘criminals’ (how many of them actually are? Do we have proof?) to CECOT prison in El Salvador. I would think they could bring him back on the return flight. I’m sure there is more to it than that, but still! That makes them look bad, y’know?

Here’s something else, also from CNN: In a separate court filing Sunday, a senior Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said in a sworn statement that Abrego Garcia “is no longer eligible for withholding of removal” because of the administration’s claim that he’s a member of the MS-13 gang, which the Trump administration has designated as a foreign terrorist organization. The *claim*. Right. Again, do they have proof? Kilmar has never been part of a gang. He’s quietly been making a living for himself here in the US. I guess the ‘claim’ is good enough, huh? He escaped El Salvador due to gang violence and fear for his life. Wouldn’t he still be there if he were part of a gang? He has protected status here to *not* be sent back to El Salvador. Sheesh!

I don’t know why this is bothering me so much. But again, I ask, what are they hiding? They really are fighting this far too hard. All this foolery doesn’t mean anything. They are dodging the order. This crap with ‘removing domestic obstacles’ is nonsense. WHAT is going ON here??!!

    • I wish I didn’t have to say this, but I agree. That could be at least one reason why the DOJ has been fighting this so hard.

    • That’s the only thing that makes sense here. They can’t bring him back because he’s either dead or they’ve lost track of him (like all those children taken from their parents during scum bag’s first time f-ing our country).

  1. I think they are afraid that the second he lands in the US, he’ll be mobbed by reporters asking about his experience. When people hear what a hellhole that place is, Both “presidents” tRump and Bukkake will take a bunch of heat.

  2. If he is dead, they could damn well bring back his body and at least give his family some closure. If he isn’t, assume they bring him back and he tells his story. The fan will be hit big time. At this point, I just hope Senator Chris Van Hollen gets home alive.
