This infuriates me! How many people are going to have to run for their lives because they could be “outed” at any moment? We have lost our ability to collect information about them now that SignalGate has told the Houthis how we’re watching them. And how many lives of our intelligence people have been lost?!!
For certain, if I were an asset anywhere near or with the Houthis I would be “getting gone” as soon as that conversation went out. So not only are they stupid for using the Signal program, they are MORE stupid for wrecking on ways to watch them! You *know* they are moving and changing methods and hiding places as we speak. Now we may have to start all over again. No matter how much someone would get energized being in danger, this is beyond danger. It’s death. Straight death. I wonder if any agent would tell “management” to f**k off and get fired for it. Going back and trying to find a new “in” for them is insane. They *know* we are watching now, and will do whatever needs to be done to stop it. And they absolutely will not trust new people, period. That door just slammed closed.
From CNN: That text, according to the current and former officials, exposed the mere fact that the US is gathering intelligence on them, bad in and of itself — but also hinted at how the agency is doing it. The language about “starting points,” these people said, suggests clearly that the CIA is using technical means like overhead surveillance to spy on their leadership. That could allow the Houthis to change their practices to better protect themselves. The Houthis have “always been difficult to track,” said a former intelligence official. “Now you just highlight for them that they’re in the crosshairs.” As I was saying, we just lost the ability to track them anymore. They’re certainly not stupid enough to stay put!
At least at the CIA, it’s prohibited to discuss operational matters on Signal. And other national security agencies have reportedly also issued warnings that it is not foolproof, and it is certainly not a replacement for classified networks. “It’s the most secure (commercial messaging app) but not sanctioned for classified information,” said one US official. “And be careful of sensitive information that is not classified.” “There are ways to effectively use Signal for alignment, but you just can’t cross that line of classified data for obvious reasons,” said another US official.
Even with everything that happened and continues to happen, they’re not going to change their methods. It would be like “that would be construed as admitting wrongdoing.” Better to change NOW with SignalGate still going on. You should, I would think, be able to do that relatively quickly, to get started and then finish it in a bit. There *needs* to be a change in how to do things. I feel like they are still stuck back in the late 1990s to early 2000s. Now, of course, I don’t know anything about intel. I’m just guessing.
This whole SignalGate thing is pissing me off more and more. The people in government who lack the ability to really *look* into things are ignoring it. There has been a slap on the wrist but no actual “punishment”. And ad nauseum, I have burned up phone lines and emails to my reps. It gives me no satisfaction to be able to say “I *told* you so”. Why, why, WHY did these jokers get confirmed??!! They are worse than worthless, if there is such a thing. If there isn’t, they are doing very well at creating it. They’re not looking so good on camera anymore. Having their stupidity shown to the world isn’t helping. What the F**K did they think they were doing? LOL, sorry I got derailed from talking about surveillance and such.
