Agent Orange’s talk of annexing Greenland has really pissed off its people in a major fashion, even worse than usual. No matter how many times they tell him “Hell, NO”, he keeps talking about getting the island for “security purposes”. He just won’t let it go. It’s the same for the Panama Canal. Panama is its own country and THEY are telling him “hell, NO” as well. Don’t forget Canada is, too!
I just cannot see why he is doing this. The countries have had enough of this and they are telling him so. He just doesn’t listen. He thinks what he is saying is absolutely correct. But he is not. He has this pipe dream of expanding the US and its power. We are having enough trouble in our OWN country. We need to repair things in our OWN country. We don’t need to be screwing around with others.
Here’s one of the best parts. These remarks came when tRump was in a public meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Starting with a reporter’s question, I quote:
“What is your vision for the potential annexation of Greenland.”
“I think it’ll happen,” Trump replied during a meeting in the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, regarding Greenland.
Trump said the U.S. needs the island “for international security.”
The president then turned to Rutte and said “We’ll be talking to you” about the issue.
“It’s really an appropriate question,” the president added.
Rutte quickly said, “When it comes to Greenland, yes or no joining the U.S., I would leave that outside, for me, this discussion, because I don’t want to direct NATO in that.”
Nice comeback, sir, especially in public! Too bad it won’t make a bit of difference to the Mango Mandarin’s thinking. I’m sure you’re getting tired of me saying this, but tRump really doesn’t have enough of a brain to think, hence being stuck on adding 3 countries to the US. We definitely don’t need another country to support!
The outgoing Prime Minister of Greenland blasted Traitor Tot that the potential annexation of the massive Arctic island would happen. I quote again because the PM says it better than I could:
“The U.S. president has once again aired the thought of annexing us,” Prime Minister Mute Egede wrote in a Facebook post.
“Don’t keep treating us with disrespect. Enough is enough,” Egede wrote.
The prime minister wrote that he plans to convene a meeting of the chairmen of all Greenland’s political parties “as soon as possible” to address Trump’s comments.
“Because this time we need to tighten our rejection of Trump,” Egede wrote.
Enough is enough, indeed. Who among the Cheezy Poof’s cabinet could change his mind on this? Anyone? Don’t we have enough issues of our own without trying to annex another 3 countries? They are fighting against him tooth and nail. It’s past time to stop the nonsense.

Someone said that it would be smart to position some troops there. Either from Denmark or whatever European country. That way, tRump couldn’t just send in a small strike force and take the place. He would have to commit serious military forces.
We could increase our own presence there at the smallish installation on the northernmost part of the island. We have agreements for bases all over the world already. I’m sure a mutually acceptable arrangement could be worked out. We could have another place for Arctic warfare training and also Naval supply. And expanded intel gathering. Greenland would get a tidy sum of money for the extra land they’d LEASE for our use. Both sides would get something both sides would like. And even need. That was always on the table but given Trump’s bellicosity if I were Greenland I’d be wary of such an agreement now! Maybe some years down the road IF this country comes to its senses and rejects Trumpian bullshit.
But we could have had it now, and Trump would have a small diplomatic triumph – which he’d of course try to make into a much bigger fucking deal. Instead he blew it and the hell of it is an expanded U.S. and NATO presence in Greenland would be a good thing for everyone. Except Putin
I don’t think it’s really about an expanded US presence. I think he’s after the minerals.
I love the way you so blithely wrote “We have agreements for bases all over the world” as if those agreements mean anything to Drumpf.
It may be time for the countries hosting all those bases to treat the agreements the way they know Drumpf does and start treating American military personnel as personae non gratae and immediately subject them to local laws (no more deferring to the US military judicial process when soldiers and sailors break local laws).

What makes anybody think tRump’s obsession with Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal are about anything except Putin’s marching orders? I would even think Putin thought up DOGe. How do you spell “dog-e” in Russian? Putin just loves to give DonOld orders which confuse and confound Americans (and other world leaders) into thinking about the chaos, and the really important stuff (like starving brown and black children in Africa) doesn’t rise to the top of the pile. I just bet tRump’s big call with Putin will be about 5% dealing with Ukraine (they’ve already discussed what they want) and 95% discussing what the Mushroom Manhood can do to piss of the Democratic base more. Same story, rinse and repeat!
I think the main reason he wants Greenland is because it would give Putin access to the Atlantic Ocean. Russia needs warm water ports and currently access to the Atlantic is not feasible without being detected. With the shrinking ice cap, this would be advantageous to him.
I think it may play into why he wants the Panama Canal-they are both international shipping lanes, or at least Greenland could be soon.
