Such interesting and evil things are happening in the US. Yet you’ll never know what it is, until some media has the guts to print it or website or whatever way they can get the news out, including through our blog here.
It just occurred to me that the Muskrat is worse than the Mango Mandarin. Never thought I’d be saying that. tRump is (mostly) easy to predict, except for when it comes to other countries. Muskrat is NOT. The Orangutan was pretty up front about his changes and what he would be doing. So, he’s signing Executive Orders for this and that, which are expected. Some will be blocked, I hope, but others won’t. Now, since his EOs are usually not for the improvement of this country, but for improving his *version* of the country – they’re generally not surprising. So, he and his Sharpie have a conference every day, he gets writer’s cramp, and stops. Pretty likely he’ll have more tomorrow so these others can wait. Some of his changes are ridiculous, but he did *tell us*, so we have to figure out ways to block or ways to migrate it into something useful, heh, occasionally.
E-yawn is quote gleefully shredding all that is good about the country. He *has* money so it doesn’t matter to him who depends on Social Security or Medicare, or more. He doesn’t see a need for intelligence, so there are many countries gleefully rubbing their hands together as they get ready to coerce and contrive in the shadows, because the FBI and CIA are getting eviscerated down to a shadow of themselves. You *know* everyone is watching the news on our country very carefully to see when the best time is to strike.
Seems to me the Muskrat doesn’t take time to think before he does some outrageous, stupid thing. He’s trying to kill USAID because he thinks it’s a waste of time and money. He never actually *looked* at what it does. There’s going to be a lot of hurt going on in the world without this organization. We do a lot of good through it. But because it’s not something he can actually see in action he thinks it needs to go. Whaaaaaaat??! Dude. You have all this power now (erk). Could you do something *good* with it? I bet the answer would be no and would take up too much of his time to say it, so it would get brushed off. We have Pam Bondi, the loyalist, as head of the DoJ, so hopefully that will stick around for a while. She might not like too much of a push from him. And the Confused Carrot chose her, so maybe. I’m sure she’s going to make a lot of changes, but hopefully not as severe as what Elon and DOG-e are doing. Hopefully. I did hear all the people who were involved in J6. no matter what level, are gone. Not a surprise.
It just irks me that the Muskrat isn’t taking time to look at what organizations *do*. He only sees the money they need and wham! Cut off! He really needs to look at what places are. We know he won’t. And there are more establishments heading into a world of hurt once he notices them. Plus, he has his loyalists getting put into the high levels of government to do what HE says which is, I would think, a bit different from what the Mango Mandarin’s loyalists are. I won’t get started on the whole nonsense regarding the treasury. I covered that in another column. I’m afraid that he’s going to cut and cut, without thinking of the people., until it comes to the point that we all have to live in poverty because we have almost nothing left. I *HATE* that. I detest the man and his grandiose ideas. I just don’t know if we can stop him. That’s a definite maybe. Ya think?

Susan, my friend, I attacked you last week and was rightly called on it and apologized. I don’t mean to attack. I agree with your opinions. Your POV is valuable and I second your opinions and support them. I have to say, though, you are reducing your own impact with the passive voice in your headlines. “I’m not sure what to think of this though.” But, you do know what to think and you say so in your opinion piece! I like what you write. I am disconcerted that your headline cuts into your voice before I even get to hear it. Just my thoughts for your consideration.
If you attacked me, you did so rightfully. I try very hard to listen to my readers and I try to make changes that you folks ask for. So apology accepted. That’s a SUPER interesting comment about my headlines! I’ll have to work on that.
I think you mean something like “passive tone” or “passive attitude”, something like that. “Passive voice” is a grammatical term with a very specific meaning, and “I’m not sure what to think of this” is not actually passive voice. It’s just a copulative phrase, like any “I am [not] x.” True, it doesn’t sound very active, but it’s not passive voice. \
“We made some mistakes,” is active voice. “Mistakes were made by us,’ is passive voice, or even better, just “Mistakes were made.” What happens is that by shifting from active to passive, you move the emphasis from the subject to the object, thereby de-emphasizing who actually did whatever it was. By leaving off the “by us,” you complete eliminate the (indirect) object.
To be fair, Suzan didn’t write “I’m not sure what to think of this though,” she wrote “I’m not sure what to think of this thought.”
“Though” would make it it a concessive clause, which sounds even weaker.
By the way SUzan, I absolutely agree with you — Musk is way more dangerous than Trump.
You’ve missed the big picture. Elmo is destroying what benefits HIM to destroy. Any agency, any program that’s attempting to hold HIM accountable…GONE. He’s constantly on the phone to his and the orange turd’s BFF, Pootie, so I’m sure USAID and many more are being sacrificed so he can get his treats from Pootie, just like the orange turd will. It’s all about self dealing and theft. What benefits ME..screw YOU.
