It’s been a long couple of years. And it’s not exactly ending on a high note. Convicted felon, Project 2025 (which has already started) lover, oligarch, loyalist-demanding, almost convicted insurrectionist tRump is coming in. And President Biden is warning us about what’s happening to our country. It’s going to become PRESIDENT Mango Mandarin’s way or the highway or no way. It’s going to come to broken promises and lies. And then all the people who voted for him will find out the truth of who and what he really is.

Joe gave us his last speech today. And he didn’t do what one would expect him to do, and remind everyone of the good things he and we had done over the past 4 years. No, he warned us of the incoming oligarchy. The oligarchy that will threaten our entire frame of democracy, rights, freedoms, and a fair chance for everyone to get ahead. An oligarchy that cares for nothing but themselves in the top 1% of the US, possibly extending out into the world. We know who he’s talking about. Specifically Elon Muskrat, but you can’t forget Jeff Bozos, Mark Suckerberg, the LA Times guy (because I don’t want to type out his name even though I’m typing out this). They care for nothing but themselves. Well, themselves and their money. And that’s where the problem starts. They care nothing for the people who work for them. They care about being on the right side of DonOld Trump, because you never know when he might give you an opportunity to make even more money. And in the meantime, the middle and lower classes just slide further and further down because there’s no one who cares about them anymore.

Then there’s the tech “world” and social media. The gloves are off, the censorship is off, and we are staggering under misinformation and disinformation. There are no guard rails anymore, so how do we know if something can be believed? The free press is crumbling and editors, columnists, and political cartoonists are all disappearing and the landscape has turned gray and barren, with no light for those of us who don’t get that 2017 tax break – ours increase. We must hold those accountable for the abuses. How will we protect our children, our friends, and ourselves? Can it be done anymore as Joe’s Presidency draws to a close?

But! There are good things to remember that President Biden has done, and I think history will look back and see him differently in time. “It will take time to feel the full impact of what we have done” (assuming the Orangutan doesn’t find a way to reverse it) “but the seeds are planted and should grow and bloom for many years to come”. How about capping the price of insulin? Making sure vets get the care they deserve. Passing gun safety laws. Strengthened NATO. And Ukraine is still free. (We hope it stays that way.) We’ve pulled ahead of China. And in the land of AI there are profound possibilities AND risks. They must be controlled by people in the greatest nation in the world – the United States. There’s so much more. But as we close his time in office, we must stay engaged with democracy. We must continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. We must remember the Statue of Liberty, who may sway in the winds, yet she never falters and never falls. President Biden still believes in the idea for which this nation stands. “We are a nation where the strength of our institutions and the character of our people matter and must endure.” Godspeed, Joe Biden. All the best to you.

  1. Kudos, Susan! Are you your own copy editor writing your own headlines? This one is classic and I will not soon get that song outta my head! 👏👏

  2. True to a degree, but Joe essentially failed us with his appointment of Garland, who wasted 18 months before the Jan6th committee forced his hand. If Joe had honestly pulled his head out of his institutional rear end, believing in the fairytale of America, that we are a nation of laws and justice will prevail, then maybe he would have done WHAT WAS NECESSARY TO SAVE THE UNION. He did not. Now ALL of the so called progress and positive things he did WILL BE UNDONE IN SHORT ORDER by the American Nazi Party led by a criminal moron. To recently deny his cognitive decline, even at this late date, shows the level of DENIAL he operates with. Hell…I voted for him, then Kamala…but it was Joe that put us in this situation. Never bring a career beauracrat to a fight to the death. And don’t forget the line from Don McLean’s hit in the early 70s…that he heard the Devil laughing with delight the day the music,(now substitute democracy), DIED.

    • From what I have gathered, that failure i more on Garland and his inability to all himself to action. He had a history of being on the pointy end chasing and persuing, as a prosecutor and as a judge, but somehow, as he came back to a prosecutor role as AG, he just lost whatever it was he had when he did it in the past.

I know the saying goes that the buck stops with the guy in charge, but when your sold a hoopty that’s got a superb history, then the duping lands back on Garland

      • I’m afraid this is the classic line that in order for evil to prevail…good men do nothing…they are both guilty. Joe could have fired him when it became apparent he was a paper tiger.

    • A minor reply to you here, Scott – that he heard the Devil laughing with delight the day the music (Democratic Party) died happens to be the song that gave me the title for this piece 🙂 I would need a lot more time to reply to your comment I would need more time because your comments are so deep that a throwaway comment is an insult.
