Back in the Truman era there was the slogan, “Give “Em Hell, Harry.” Harry Truman once said, “I never gave them hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.” If Truman was alive I think that Joe Biden is not only a president he would admire, I think he would completely identify with him. Truman had a very different situation than Biden. He was thrust into the end of WWII when FDR died while in office. But where the two men would completely relate, I feel, is that they both governed this nation at a time when the raw, basic battle between good and evil was in the ascendant. Evil never dies, and it is never defeated. It is pushed back, goes into remission, and then reinvents itself. This new ad from Biden/Harris illustrates that perfectly.

Trump’s America First is a tired old cliche, emanating out of none other than the Ku Klux Klan which touted “America First,” and “One God, One Country, One Flag.” And as to Trump and Putin, the stakes are only getting higher as time goes on. The latest wrinkle in that fabric is Trump’s $91M bond for E. Jean Carroll being connected to Russia. And that story broke the same day that Hungarian dictator Viktor Orban cut a campaign ad for Trump after having had a summit of sorts at Mar-a-Lago.
This is the state of affairs in this nation. It is very black and white. We have an American incumbent president running against a traitorous former president. We cannot allow Trump to get back in or our way of life is over.
This next video is a classic. If Trump sees it, he will kick himself for not having thought of it himself.

Eight more months. Soon we’ll be counting the days and then the minutes. It’s hard to believe that we’re in a contest but then the minute that the GOP actually put Trump atop their ticket and then left him there after the Access Hollywood scandal, anything became possible.
The party of family values is morally bankrupt and has been for some time now. That’s how we got here. It’s up to us to keep America going and eventually, I would imagine, there will be another two party system in this country. Right now the GOP is dead. In its place is an angry MAGA mob with a charismatic cult leader heading them — at least until he is sentenced to prison.

When it comes to the whole “Family Values” thing I recall how at first Dan Quayle had a little trouble getting the GOP brain trust to adopt it as part of the Party’s identity but they wound up doing so and started beating us over the head with it. What really pissed me off though was Quayle stole the freaking concept!
Back in the mid 1980s there was a book titled “Raising PG Kids In An X-Rated World” that got attention. It led to even a Congressional hearing with testimony from moms, high profile ones from both Parties giving testimony. And the person who took the lead, and who’s book started the whole movement? Tipper Gore! Yep, the wife of a sitting DEMOCRATIC Senator from a southern state, who would go on to become VP. But the GOP, being even then the kind of people they are took credit for the concept of “family values.” Look, I never had kids of my own but if I had I know I would have been freaking out at everything they were being exposed to by the 1980s. Much more so than my own parents were when I was growing up. Wanting some standards for public discourse isn’t a bad thing. I don’t like censorship but folks should be able to agree that certain things should be avoided in certain platforms or areas of public discourse. I’d better shut up. I could go on for days about this stuff.
