Hell hath no fury like a GOPer scorned. You didn’t have to be Nostradamus to see that it was a very, very bad idea for Donald Trump to tell Nikki Haley’s supporters that he didn’t want them in his tent. It was bad on so many levels, that we could sit here for a week talking about how bad it was. But in a brief thumbnail sketch, the fact that the Republican party, generally speaking, has been trying to open its tent in recent decades, is the main reason. It goes against all responsible Republican principles of governance — not to mention plain old horse sense — that when you’re trying to grow a party, you don’t tell potential newcomers not to bother to join, while you’re telling existing party members to drop dead. So Trump begat this.
You know… the best time to start a new political party was 8 years ago. The 2nd best time is now.

I thoroughly believe that this is what’s going to take place. I do not see this Trump madness taking him back to the White House, with this kind of blow back going on. He didn’t have this in 2016. He had all the Republicans on his side. A lot of Republicans may have voted for him, holding their noses, but they voted for him. That didn’t happen in 2020. And in 2024 he’s in a hell of a lot worse posture than he was in either year with his felony indictments, Supreme Court cases, etc.
The win on the ballot was not all that much of a biggy. Let’s see what happens with the immunity vote, and I do not see him prevailing there.
What Trump has managed to do is galvanize a backlash against himself which is incredible.

America is going to show the world who she is. Either we are still the country that we were when the French gifted us with the Statue Of Liberty and we still stand for all that, or we are a collection of misfits, a land of broken toys, a people devoted to bread and circus as the highest principles.
Trump is now the de facto leader of the Republican party. Mike Johnson is no leader at all and listen to Mitch on his way out the door. McConnell doesn’t have the balls to stand up to Trump and so he’s decided to weasel out like this.
Q: “How do you reconcile your Trump endorsement with the fact that you called him practically and morally responsible for Jan. 6 and the fact that he insulted you and your wife repeatedly?” pic.twitter.com/GkylTqHcUH

It is seriously time for a new conservative party. There is no more Republican leadership, folks. John McCain is dead, Mitt Romney is bailing out, McConnell just wimped out, Mike Johnson is laughably in over his head and so the only “leadership” is the loudest voice in the room, Donald Trump.
The GOP is going to take one hell of a beating in November. And they richly deserve it. They now officially stand for nothing of value, if this is the best standard bearer they’ve got. Lincoln is rolling in his grave and Reagan is throwing up.

If Moscow Mitch fell into a vat of peanut butter you could make PB&J sandwiches for everyone in Rikers Island, he’s that gelatinous.
His response is intriguing. He basically said that anybody the GOP nominated was fine with him. If they nominated Satan, that would be fine with him. Not that this is surprising, coming from Mitch, but you expected a leader of his stature to have some character. Wrong.
The character of the filthy-rich Senator from the poorest state is that of a dedicated Confederate, who did his very best to destroy the Union from within.
When Yertle entered politics, he lost what character he might have possessed. It was exchanged for power and he had no problem with casting it away just so he could grasp all the power he possibly could get in his greedy hands.
Knowing he (Trump) is losing the election has decided instead to “not win”. Doing so creates ultimate reaction from the MAGA base hoping to inspire an even greater (if that’s possible) January 6 2.0 insurrection based on another stolen and rigged election. As good an answer as any? I should sell this to the MAGA/GOP
Not surprising. And from what’s been written on social media by DeathSantis supporters, more of them will be voting for RFK, Jr. or not at all than voting for Rump a Dump.
As he’s done so since June 2015, Dementia Don has decided to choose his voters rather than the other way around, continually whittling down his voting bloc to currently a propensity of nothing more than angry white male racists.
This has been a lesson in how NOT to run a campaign. At this point it shall take nothing short of Trumplethinskin having Putin send Russian military units into the US to attempt to disrupt the November 5, 2024 election. His credibility & popularity is so low he’s going to need more than Russia’s Sandworm hackers this time to alter the final vote count in “swing states” to pull off a false electoral vote victory like he did in 2016.
