Yep. That’s what a Senior Advisor to the Lincoln Project had to say about Jim Jordan when pressed for her thoughts about him becoming Speaker. You can read the Raw Story article here.
I worship freedom. Instead of being in church this Sunday morning I’m instead taking time to see what’s going on in our democracy and world affairs because freedom is under sustained attack both abroad and here in the U.S. One very specific attack on freedom is the candidacy of Rep. Jim “Gym – HE GROPED ME COACH!” Jordan of Ohio (in a safely because it’s SO insanely gerrymandered District) for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Jordan has been in Congress for a good while now (2006) yet has never authored/passed a single piece of legislation. What he has done though is throw rhetorical bombs. Actually, more like flaming bags of poop with a lit cherry bomb inside. In general, he’s there because GOPers like that he comes up with all manner of crazy, frequently vile and pretty much bat-sh*t insane accusations against Democrats. And since Trump came along Jordan has had his lips surgically attached far up into the rectum of one Donald Trump which of course makes him golden in MAGA World.
Jim Jordan is also an insurrectionist. Not just some run-of-the-mill one either, but one who at the very least was intimately aware of what was planned for January 6, if not actively part of planning. He wants to destroy our government, our Constitutional Republic and replace it with whatever Fascist State Donald Trump wants the U.S. to be on any given day. So, naturally Trump has supported Jordan’s bid to become Speaker of the House.
Jordan is and always has been as unfit (in every way) to be a Representative as Trump was to be President. The majority of Republicans in the House know it which is why, even with Trump’s backing Jordan was beaten by Steve Scalise in the first attempt by the Republican conference to meet and select a Speaker candidate they could take to the floor and get approved. Scalise quickly dropped out however when it became clear he’d never get enough votes from his caucus (217 is the magic number) and not wanting to put his Party and the country through another godawful spectacle like we saw this past January he did what Jordan demanded in a private meeting less than an hour after getting a majority (not a strong one but more than enough to show the choice wasn’t a fluke) and threw his own support behind Jordan.
So the GOPers had another closed door meeting and tried again. Jordan came out on top this time but a last minute “nobody” (had YOU ever heard of Austin Scott of Georgia) had thrown his hat in the ring and got a whole bunch of votes! Jordan I’m sure was stunned, and he pressed for another vote, no doubt with some not at all subtle threats at a caucus he’d already pissed off mightily with his antics that started the moment he lost to Scalise. Jordan did better, but still FAR short of what he’d need. So the House decided to take the weekend and tomorrow to decide what to do and they will get together Tuesday to see if all this can be resolved.
I posted an article on PZ Friday night asking whether time would work for or against Jordan. We won’t know the answer until Tuesday but here’s my sense of where things stand. 1) GYM Jordan could care less about the good of the Republican Party or the country and won’t step aside. Not only that, if he stays well short of the needed number of votes he (and Trump) will raise holy hell and make an awful situation worse. 2) There IS strong sentiment of a “Never Jordan” type and not just from former Republicans like Liz Cheney or LP’s Tara Setmayer. Unless I’m mistaken reporting indicates at least five “not only no but HELL NO!” votes in the House Republican Caucus against Jordan. From where I sit it’s still a small number of people attacking Jordan but it does seem to be growing.
Also, with outsiders as in former Party members providing cover I think more will be emboldened to if not speak up loudly simply vote NO on Jordan, whether Tuesday in private conference or if Jordan tries to press the issue by taking the fight to the floor. That friends, a repeat of January is something most in the GOP are desperate to avoid. Articles like the one from Raw Story I linked to won’t help Jordan either. Setmayer spoke of how the consideration of Jordan is an example of how desperate the GOP caucus is, and that “It tells you everything that you need to know about the degeneration of the House GOP and the party as a whole.” She went on to say:
“Do I think he has a chance of winning over the entire conference? Unlikely,” she continued before elaborating, “I think it is unlikely, given Jim Jordan’s history. The Republicans have now nominated a quote, ‘legislative terrorist,’ according to former Speaker John Boehner.”
She goes on to note not only that Jordan’s reputation in Congress is awful but that his own hometown paper published an editorial saying he was the second most hated person in Congress. (Somewhere Ted Cruz is hoping Jordan takes the top spot from him) That he’s nothing but a bomb-thrower. Oh, and she points out his role in the January 6 insurrection and that he ignored a Congressional subpoena. Then there’s this:
” So this guy is supposed to be the one who is now going to bring the House of Representatives together and hold the speaker’s gavel?” she continued. “You do not negotiate with terrorists. If he has a reputation of being a legislative terrorist, what makes anyone think he is all of the sudden had a born-again experience and is going to become a decent human being and an adult legislator who is going to run the House of Representatives which requires playing ball with both sides?”
Setmayer’s citing of former Speaker John Boehner, himself forced out by the crazies (the Freedom Caucus which Jordan has always been prominent in) calling Jordan a Legislative Terrorist will possibly become attached to Jordan’s name as his candidacy for Speaker continues. I hope so. Of course, given that the bosses in executive suites and boardrooms of media outlets love crazy (those rating and therefore ad revenue) might not lot their writers and talking head “talent” play this up. In fact, marching orders have probably been issued NOT to do so.
That means it’s up to the rest of us, on political blogs like this, on other blogs and social media and hell, just in old fashioned communications with friends/family and people we come across to attach the words “Legislative Terrorist” to Jordan as firmly as his lips are attached to Trump’s rectum.
Get to work people!

I’d say the people in gym bag’s district deserve better but they have put this pedo supporting clown into the H.O.R. for seventeen years. However, even if they deserve this fool, the nation does not.
You’re correct about his constituents sending him back, even knowing he’s an enabler of sexual abuse. And an insurrectionist. And so on. Yet I don’t believe he could get elected in an even halfway fairly/normally drawn Congressional district. It takes some serious gerrymandering for Jordan to keep his seat:
HOLD JIM JORDAN TO ACCOUNTABILITY AND KEEP ON EXPRESSING TO THE WORLD WHAT HE IS A “DIRTY TERRORIST ” AND A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY
