Being a Trump lawyer/fixer is an interesting career, no question about that. And a varied one. If I was Alina Habba, Christina Bobb, the lot of them, I would be taking notes. They may find themselves following in Michael Cohen’s footsteps, whether they want to or not.
Michael Cohen reports that he has been served with a subpoena and that Donald Trump wants his deposition. Cohen characterized that move as “the dumbest move I could possibly imagine.” And why would Trump want to hear anything that Cohen has to say? Isn’t Cohen just a former coffee boy that Trump barely knew?
And the timing of this is interesting. Cohen just completed Manhattan District Attorney’s office interview number sixteen. That’s a lot of consultation. And, moreover, he’s scheduled for yet another one. Something’s shaking, no question about it.
Michael Cohen talks his 16th appearance with the Manhattan DA on Political Beatdown: "We started at 35,000 feet and we are now in landing mode…The questions that they asked are so on point and are so damaging and injurious to individuals who should be held accountable." pic.twitter.com/e7oijo4LzE

So what in the world does Trump want to ask Cohen at a deposition? Trump has had quite a collection of lawyers in his life. Roy Cohn ended up disbarred and disgraced. (Trump wasn’t the worst person on his client list, Joseph McCarthy was.) Michael Cohen ended up disbarred, went to prison. Then there’s John Eastman and Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani may end up disbarred, he’s suspended from the practice of law in New York at present. John Eastman is reviled in California. Considering that fact and all the evidence against him, I would say that Eastman will be out to pasture, maybe as a talking head on Newsmax, in years to come.
Of this group, Cohen is arguably the least colorful. What does Trump want with him? And will Cohen do a Motion to Quash the subpoena?
You’ll know when we do. Just as a gut instinct, my take on this is that Trump wants to discredit Cohen, as a kind of pre-emptive strike against whatever testimony of Cohen’s the Manhattan DA will use. That’s pretty much of a no-brainer, but I can see where Trump would think it’s a terrific move to make. He’s still trying to figure out why the rest of the world doesn’t think the Georgia Grand Jury fully exonerated him, when he knows that they did.

What’s the old adage? Be careful what you ask for…you just might get it!
If I had any connection to the other side in this area, I would be asking myself the following question. “Is Michael Cohen able to STFU when required?” (Because Trump himself sure the hell isn’t.)
If the answer is ‘No’, then this move is actually dangerous.
Question: When Trump finally realizes that he has run out of legal options and defenses to avoid trial , and he will, and when he finally understands that he is going to spend the remaining years of his life in prison – at that precise moment – will he commit suicide or go to prison?
He’ll try to make a run for it to a country headed by one of strong man buddies. Emphasis on “try.” The only difference is that he will either be perp-walked out of Mara-Lardo (with Melania-Bring-Me-Moose-And-Squirrel screaming obscenities at him in the six languages she’s supposed to know), or he’ll be perp-walked off a Brazilian Airways jumbo jet with the passengers yelling obscenities at him while taking cell phone video of the whole shindig. Who you gonna call, Donnie Boy? Who you gonna call?
At the last act Trump will find a country willing to believe he’s a “trophy” criminal…and he’ll le@ve the US…
While I would prefer a peep walk in an orange jumpsuit, I will settle for him fleeing somewhere without an extradition treaty. I wonder how long he would last in Russia before he means too.far out a,window and falls.
