Melania Returns To The White House – Let’s Talk About Why

As the child in Poltergeist would say ‘Melania’s Back…’ It’s true. She made an appearance at the White House and let’s just say speculation is that it’s not really for the reason she stated as she presented another one of her vapid programs.  It’s been over a month since Melania’s last ‘proof of life’ and likely would have been longer but with all the speculation about Trump’s new “binky” some are suggesting Melania felt a need to mark her territory. That might be true and probably is part of why she made an appearance, but I think there’s more  to it.

Let’s start with the fact Melania Trump did in fact not only show up but even appeared with her husband.  Trump probably wanted to be anywhere else but even he knows the increasing media attention (more like circus) about his ‘devoted’ aid Natalie Harp it was a good time to try and sell the notion himself and ‘Melanie’ being a loving and mutually supporting couple.  So, as we learn from The Mirror US we got ourselves a little dog and pony show:

First lady Melania Trump returned to the White House and was seen in public for the first time in 31 days on Thursday — ending rumors about her whereabouts.

“Good afternoon. I heard you missed me. Here I am,” she said as she took the podium to announce a new program aimed at providing more academic opportunities for children in and leaving foster care.

She wore a snappy blue blouse and even showed her husband, President Donald Trump, some affection after her brief remarks, holding his hand briefly. The president didn’t offer any remarks of his own.

Academic opportunities for for children in/leaving foster care?  Give me a break!  It’s just another vapid nothingburger program. Raise some private money and bank it in her own account. In other words typical Trump grift.  More important was as I said to mark the WH and the Office of First Lady as HER territory, even if she no longer has an office.  As the linked article notes Natalie Harp kept urging Trump to tear the East Wind down!  With each day bringing more news about how close she’s gotten with Trump it’s probably true that Melania showed up in part to put Ms. Harp in her place.

Actually, one has to wonder if Melania’s Secret Service detail literally did so. By that I mean locking her in a room somewhere, preferably not even on the WH grounds so she couldn’t try and take out her rival who is actually Trump’s (trophy) wife and erstwhile First Lady.  I think objective people can say by now Natalie Harp has had visions of being First Lady dancing in her head for a long time now.  Also, we are now learning Melania and Natalie have been duking it out behind the scenes for a while now:

Melania’s appearance comes on the heels of controversy after rumors about Natalie Harp reached a fever pitch in recent days. The pair allegedly began beefing over comments Harp made about wanting to abolish the Office of the First Lady.

Michael Wolff, who has authored several books about Trump, claimed that Harp was one of the people who argued for the construction of the controversial $400 million ballroom, which led to the demolition of the East Wing of the White House — traditionally the home of the Office of the First Lady.

A former staffer asserted, per journalist Joanna Coles, that the office is now “virtually nonexistent.” It’s now become a showdown of “Natalie versus Melania.”

Regarding that last part it looks like we might get treated to a nasty showdown.  Here’s why I think this could get real ugly really fast.  Melania was humiliated by the whole Stormy Daniels thing. However that tryst her P.O.S. hubby had was a one-time thing.  If Melania actually believes in God (I doubt it) she’s probably thanked her lucky stars that during that tawdry Manhattan trial former Playmate of the Year Karen McDougal got mentioned but never took the stand. THAT was an actual long-term affair and around the time of the Stormy Daniels thing.

One thing I’m sure of is that it all led to a re-negotiation of her prenup with Trump.  Hell, I’m not the only one who looks at the numerous instances of her slapping his hand away and saying it’s because the prenup was revised so Melania was owed a fee for PDA’s with Trump. What woman would want those nasty hands touching her?  The speculation that Harp might have a ‘closer’ relationship with Trump than adoring aid is I still think fanciful. The dude is fatter and grosser looking than I am. I suspect that if Natalie hugs a picture of Trump when she goes to sleep it’s one of him when he was far younger!

Still, one never knows and while pundits been careful not to suggest too strongly that Trump and Harp are more than President and overly devoted aid, that they are ‘fooling around’ (YUCK!) let’s face it. Out there in social media land those thoughts are brewing and it’s going to blow up into something viral. That I think is what Melania fears, and she decided to swoop in and try to convince everyone she and Trump are solid.

However it’s always been a transactional relationship. Like any typical trophy wife Melania initially signed a prenup that guaranteed if she didn’t get caught creating scandals (with other guys), stayed married for a certain amount of time, produced at least one child (guys who buy trophy wives like to do the wink wink routine, pointing to the kid as proof they are ‘tapping’ their trophy wife) when hubby was ready for a newer and younger trophy wife there’s be a nice ‘severance package.’  Trump has given Melania both reasons and with his Presidential ambitions leverage for her to renegotiate a higher payout.

All the talk about Trump and Harp and whether it’s ‘appropriate’ hasn’t died down. I happen to think Melania is once again humiliated because some of what’s been reported is he’s made it clear how much he thinks of Harp.  That ‘unlike the rest of you SHE will never leave me’ had to sting Melania in a special way.  What matters though is that once again she has leverage to tell Trump to call his lawyer because HER lawyer has a new prenup for him to sign. One with a much higher amount of compensation for her services as Trophy Wife #3.

Well, as the linked article points out (at the end) Harp has worked hard to position herself as the woman closest to Trump.  I don’t think Melania is going to just take that. Not with all the billions he’s been able to grift in his second term.  No, she’s going to make him pay.  And, when you consider the sh!t-show a ‘Melania vs. Natalie’ public showdown would be (Melania is I believe much more ruthless – Harp only thinks she herself is at Melania’s level) Trump would be wise to pay and pay ‘bigly’ to keep Melania from making things into a ‘fire her or get ready for divorce court’ type of thing.

Frankly, I can’t help but wonder if Ms. Harp will find herself suddenly filled with a desire to move on to ‘better’ things like a gig at Fox News which has it’s own studio at the WH. That would still give her plenty of access to Trump but it’s something Susie Wiles could manage a lot better than has been the case so far.
