There’s something in the distance, and it’s getting closer. What could it be? Who could be coming back to themselves? Anyone? Well, it seems we won’t know until it gets closer, if it ever does. It could be good. It could be bad. Or is it something we don’t know? We know a lot of things. But the shadow in the distance has to get closer before we can guess. My regards to Raw Story:

Former Trump administration official Miles Taylor predicted Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s “self-serving agendamay soon trigger a GOP Senate revolt, one that could potentially sink his future nominees for the remainder of his term. “I hear a sound coming from the Republican side of the aisle,” Taylor wrote in an analysis published on his Substack. “It’s not exactly the sound of ‘the resistance,’ but it’s at least worth calling ‘the reluctance.’ There’s a growing unease among Republican senators about Trump’s self-serving agenda.”

About damn time, kiddies! *WHY* did it take so long? They’ve had proof if they did town halls. They’ve had proof by calls and letters. They’ve had proof from the polls and inflation. But they’re still (mostly) scared of Trump. They’ve had proof in the primaries. Their own people are getting knocked out by people like Ken Paxton because Trump endorsed them. There’s proof! Ranting won’t do any good except for me to blow off steam, and it’s not always constructive, so moving on…

Where such a GOP Senate revolt may first materialize, Taylor theorized, could be in the Senate confirmation hearings slated for Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who Trump selected on Monday to serve in the role permanently. Taylor suggested that, much like Trump’s nomination of Bill Pulte to serve as his new Director of National Intelligence, “surely some [Republican senators] rolled their eyes at the nomination of Blanche.” Pulte’s nomination has sparked unprecedented pushback from conservative voices, a sign, Taylor argued, of an impending break in the status quo.

No, they weren’t happy with Blanche. His legal experience is limited. And he’ll try to keep from doing anything more with the Epstein files that haven’t been released. He’s likely getting scorched by questions. It would be nice if he weren’t confirmed, but Trump will apply pressure, and they’ll confirm him anyhow. But Bill Pulte? Mr. No Experience Pulte? He’s a Trump pick because he’ll go hell for leather on what Trump wants. But it’s going to be a DNI Debacle. He’s going to cause a tidal wave of people leaving, even in today’s state of America. We can beg the GOP not to confirm him, but again, Trump will apply pressure, and they’ll cave. We shouldn’t be able to say that, but this is the Age of Trump. Let’s hope all his crap goes into history books.

“So, what’s that sound I hear? Somewhere inside the flaccid consciences of those Republican senators with whom I used to work, there’s a smaller conscience trying to get attention,” Taylor wrote. “A conscience within a conscience. He’s squeaking desperately in the dark, while his master turns up the volume on Fox and Newsmax.”

Hmmm. His visual is better than my idea of growing a spine. Well, I’m not exactly a pro, so it’s okay. But if a pro thinks it’s possible, that’s definitely movement in the right direction. We still need to flip Congress, but in the meantime, enough Republican help with eyes wide open now will help. It’s fairly impossible to get Trump to stop the war and bring our people home,  but any pushback is good. Just showing Trump pushback will throw him off his stride. We shall see what happens.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
