Oh, what a wonderful Monday morning we have had. The Trump administration is only a few days into month three and it’s fully the spectacle that was promised. It has also been predicted here and elsewhere that Pete Hegseth would do some kind of a pyrotechnic fuck up, if anybody did, and that has come to fruition. If you haven’t read about Hegseth sending Top Secret war plans to the editor in chief of a major media publication, go read about it and get up to speed. Only in America under Trump.

Now of course MAGA is going crazy with its cries of “fake news.” Nope. Let’s nip that one right in the bud and now.

Here’s what Hughes said in readable form: Brian Hughes, the spokesman for the National Security Council, responded two hours later, confirming the veracity of the Signal group. “This appears to be an authentic message chain, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” Hughes wrote.

Oh, good. I think a “review” of how Top Secret data is disseminated is always a good idea, especially since Goldberg could have scooped the story (and who could have blamed him?) and revealed the attack plans before the attack happened. I’ll tell you what upsets me: now Goldberg is off of that list and won’t know about future war plans and I find that upsetting because at least with this journalist knowing what was going on, we had one sane participant. Now we’re back to Trump’s kakistocratic inner circle running things and we are phuqued.

And here’s what Hughes said, presumably off the top of his head, as it really doesn’t address the issue of letting Top Secret plans leak. “The thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials. The ongoing success of the Houthi operation demonstrates that there were no threats to troops or national security.”

Umm….no threats to troops or national security? With war plans flying around loose like that? We’ll get back to Hughes later. My spidey sense tells me we’re not done with him. Because this is stupid, to defend “deep and thoughtful policy coordination” which should not be happening outside of a SCIF facility. That’s the point here. But somebody has to pay for this gross incompetence and it might be Mike Waltz.

It’s only a question of time before Hegseth gets somebody killed. He is responsible for what happens on this watch. And intriguing that this got to Susie Wiles and she didn’t shut it down? That’s what I believe I heard the CNN reporter say, that the Chief of Staff signed off on this.

Yes, Goldberg did do the administration a favor and again I say, I regret that Goldberg or somebody like him isn’t still in the thread. It would be good to have one ethical, normal person who knows how government works privy to these things.

We are flying blind. Truly blind. There’s an old saying, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you,” and the fact is that what we don’t know that is going on in Trump’s government, as we speak, could hurt or kill a great many of us.

Zoomers, if you can help us stay afloat during these dark times, we could use a donation or a subscription of any amount. The story you’ve just read is the reason a lot of people are running from politics these days, although I believe that in the fullness of time, depressed Democrats will come back to the battle. We’re all in this together. Thank you again to all of you who have come forth and generously donated. Ursula

  1. Jeffrey Goldberg had no choice but to remove himself from the thread. He could be prosecuted for knowingly receiving classified information, even inadvertently. As it is, the regime will try to scapegoat him, which makes me wonder if he was intentionally set up.
Goldberg did, however, shine a light on the gross incompetence of the people who are supposed to protect our national security.

  2. Gabbard is supposed to be the one making sure all intelligence (wow what a misnomer) is safe. Her head should be on the chopping block along with Hegseth……and anyone else who was on that effing call on Signal! Our military should not follow any effing order again from this group of idiots. (I’m being nice.)

    • What? You expect one of the Glorious Leader’s HAND-PICKED choices for high government positions to lose their heads over something they were supposed to be in charge of?

We’re more likely to hear that some junior person will “step up” and “take full responsibility” for the matter and they’re “deeply embarrassed and regretful” for doing something that “may have caused criticism of the Trump Administration or any member of it.” (It’s likely that person will get a nice little payout for “stepping up and confessing” and then quietly rehired in a few months’ time, after the scandal dies down–as it inevitably will, thanks to the media’s complacency.)

  3. So symbolic of this administration. An absolute sh1t show from start to finish. If you are wondering what that noise in the background is, it is the rest of the world laughing at these incompetent fools.
