Most political scandals not only pretty much have a built in life span, like the replicants in Blade Runner, and for a good reason. Actually several good reasons:

  • Political scandals are so consistent, and so predictable that voters are numb to them. Politics is so dirty that voters expect their chosen ones to act like a bunch of randy alley cats
  • Because their elected officials so often do act like a bunch of randy alley cats. Most voters now expect politicians to screw a staff member, the au pair, a nextdoor neighbor or the wife of a major donor. During the staff scandal of the 80’s there was a standing joke. Why don’t congressmen use bookmarks? They just bend over the pages
  • And just as importantly, in most cases, the hanky-panky is consensual. And while the politician may be the one who is in the public eye and should know better, still and all, it’s kind of hard to give yourself a blow job.

Which is why it blew up, both Traitor Tot, as well as the entire GOP had no reason to believe that this wouldn’t blow over in a short number of news cycles. And it was a solid, logical reason.

The Jeffrey Epstein case was ancient history. The original crimes took place in New York and Florida, all the way back in the early 2000’s. And besides, Epstein cut a plea deal which included incarceration. How bad could it be?

Terrible. A muckraking Florida reporter revived the scandal, and breathed new life into it. The reporter laid bare the entire imbecilic plea deal cut by the then US Attorney in Florida. It locked Epstein up in the local jail for something like 30 days. Sort of. He was free to wear his own clothes, leave the jail every weekday from 8a-7p to attend to his business, and his meals were hand delivered by his personal chef. The reporter also advised that the deal had violated the victims bill of rights, since the US Attorney didn’t advise the victims in advance, and allow time for response or criticism.

And worst of all, the reporter started talking to the actual victims, and relating their personal nightmares. And it turned out that it wasn’t just one rogue rich pedophile, these underaged girls were being sexually abused by a whole bunch of uber rich, powerful white dudes. And they started naming manes.

And that turned out to be the secret weapon. These weren’t consenting adults getting their own out of the deal. They were underaged victims being sexually abused by rich and powerful men. Possibly including the President of the United States.

And these victims had something nobody had ever had before. They had a megaphone. Thanks to writer E. Jean Carroll, and the incredibly brave women of Me Too who took on icons like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein, not only did these victims have a public forum to tell their tales, but the public itself was finally receptive to their plights and victimization.

And that’s why this scandal will never go away for Traitor Tot or the GOP until these women have both transparency and accountability. They’re organized, and they have a strategy. I’ve noticed for a while now that every time the media begins to swing the coverage pendulum more heavily in the direction of Epstein and Trump, and the administration shenanigans to cover it up, parades of victims are appearing in front of cameras, reminding everyone of who the real story is here. As long as the victims are the focus of the story, and not the perpetrators, where isn’t enough political whitewash in the world to make this go away.

Which is why this is so toxic to the GOP. Even in safe GOP districts, women vote. And if their men want any weekend nookie, then they had better vote on the side of the angels. And Epstein is so noxious that incumbents don’t even have to know him. They only have to support Trump’s efforts to make it go away in order to be a part of the conspiracy. Which is why so many of them are pressuring Emperor Numbus Nuttus to quit f*cking around and put this goddamn thing to bed. Sadly for them, it’s already too late for that.

I thank you for the privilege of your time.

  1. As we saw with Watergate and Nixon, it’s not the scandal that is the scandal.

It’s the cover-up or attempt at cover-up of the scandal that becomes the real scandal.

    • Except in this case the real scandals are 1,000,000 x worse than any cover-up or Watergate. Who’s the most demonic, deranged serial rapist/murderer in recorded history? Mr. Tя☭mp crimes are far worse than all of them put together. Unimaginable. That’s what he’s covering up.
