Here’s some education for us all. His name hasn’t come up before. He leads one of the most hated groups in the US, but has somehow stayed off the radar all this time. We should hope he will go *permanently* off the radar because his leadership sucks. He’s one of Gnome’s. Let’s introduce Todd Lyons and tell you how he’s managed to get himself in deep trouble. With thanks to Raw Story:
A federal judge in Minnesota ran out of patience with one of President Donald Trump’s top immigration officials. Chief Judge Patrick J. Schiltz found that the administration had failed to comply with court orders to hold hearings for detained immigrants and ordered Todd Lyons, the acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to appear before him on Friday to explain himself, the Associated Press reported.
There we go. The acting leader of ICE, who had flown off the radar, has now been ‘outed’. Stand by for Blondi to threaten retribution if he gets doxed. Well, lady, the judge did it. Keep your paws off of us. Maybe they were too busy beating up people to do anything else. *snark* Wow, I’m mean today. Oops (not).
“This Court has been extremely patient with respondents, even though respondents decided to send thousands of agents to Minnesota to detain aliens without making any provision for dealing with the hundreds of habeas petitions and other lawsuits that were sure to result,” the judge wrote. The George W. Bush appointee has been frustrated by the administration’s Operation Metro Surge in the Minneapolis area that has flooded the courts with emergency lawsuits filed by immigrants who say they have been illegally arrested or detained, and the judge has accused Trump officials of slow-walking or defying court orders.
Trying not to use one of my favorite phrases here. They didn’t think about such niceties when they sent all the agents in. It was just grab them, beat them, jail them, and a fair amount of disappear them. And regrettably, kill two people who had done nothing wrong. That’s going to be a stain on the psyche for a long, long time. There’s no telling how hard it hit the people who witnessed these shootings. They had the guts to keep recording. Well, we hope they can come through it and the aftermath okay. *sigh* Moving on…
“The court’s patience is at an end,” Schiltz wrote in his order. “Accordingly, the Court will order Todd Lyons, the Acting Director of ICE, to appear personally before the Court and show cause why he should not be held in contempt of Court. The Court acknowledges that ordering the head of a federal agency to personally appear is an extraordinary step, but the extent of ICE’s violation of court orders is likewise extraordinary, and lesser measures have been tried and failed.” Schiltz’s order came in the case of a man he ordered released Jan. 15, but remained in custody as of Monday night, and the judge said he would cancel Lyons’ appearance if the petitioner is released.
WHAM. When will these idiots learn not to piss off judges??!! They will scorch your butts if you keep fcking around with this crap! It’s happened time and time again all over the country. No one learns. Frankly, the *thought* of having a judge pissed off at me is terrifying!!! But the morons continue. Apparently, only Bovino (I first typed Bovina. *snort*) and Gnome have any contact with the news. Sheesh. Wouldn’t it be grand to see some of ICE and CBP jailed?
Too bad the people who did the shooting aren’t getting charged with murder. If ICE/CBP get kicked out of Minnesota, maybe the police will have a chance to do the investigation properly, even if everything is getting turned over to DHS (what a bunch of bullsh!t) now. The FBI *would* have been better than DHS, but they bowed down and handed everything over. (By the way, the FBI agent who handled Ms. Good’s investigation resigned. Also, somewhere, something advised that the man was released this afternoon. One small favor.) Goddamn.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
