It seems some constituents are unhappy with their chosen representatives.
Two Republican Congressmen in Wisconsin faced tough crowds this week at a pair of town halls. There were boos and jeers and heckling involved. One person brought a sign that said Trump is not King, and there were other signs showing, as well. They asked some tough questions and the reps did not have answers. “How can we be represented by you if you don’t have a voice in Congress?” *That* one was priceless and I wish I’d been there to see the rep’s reaction to it. It must have been glorious! Fortunately, one did say “No, Ukraine did not start the war” but that seems like it was a last-ditch offense to some hard, hard questions because apparently, they did not come out of those very well. Rep. Glenn Grothman also faced concerns related to Medicare and Medicaid, diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and Social Security, receiving some boos during packed town halls in Fox Crossing and Algoma on Friday.
Then we had one in my current home state. GOP Rep Rich McCormick of Georgia faced some tough questions and was greeted by boos, with more of them coming from the crowd as he was likely trying to CYA. Also, add in GOP Rep. Cliff Bentz of Oregon, who faced much of the same.
Why do these red representatives take their audiences for granted? Why do they think we’re all stupid? I’m betting they were in no way ready for what they faced. People DO pay attention to what their chosen rep is doing, whether Democrat or Republican. After all, we’re the ones that put them there, and we can remove them just as easily. And midterms are coming up, kiddies.
I think it’s time for a change. The Democrats need to start working NOW on their midterm campaigns because next year could be too late. I’m hoping one of our Senators gets started now, and I will email him to ask that he starts now because I helped put him there and don’t want to lose him. He’s done more good things than bad and I’d like to keep him. I just wish I knew if emails ever got to the proper person because calling hasn’t done anything that I know of. So, I hope to try email, and then write a long letter via snail mail.
Between tRump and Muskrat and DOGE, including the hacker known as “Big Balls”, our country is going straight to hell. I would say in a handbasket but that’s not big enough. Congress Republicans are worthless, all frightened of tRump’s shadow and Democrat numbers are too small to make a difference. That’s why I’m doing what I can to contact and re-contact my Senators and House of Representatives NOW. We need to take Congress back before it’s too late. Let’s hope it can be done.
******And now, please read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Friends, thank you if you have donated to PolitiZoom. If you haven’t done so yet and are able to, we need the donations to ensure we have overhead expenses until the traffic gets back to normal. Your guess as to when that will be is as good as mine. What I can tell you is that we have 1/5 of the traffic that we had this time last year. You can see my concern as a business owner, let alone a Democrat and an American. Thank you for anything you can do. Ursula

when we mail our ballots at the post office they send to election office ballot counters, but the more I think it through…nah
I too, have wondered what the congress critters were expecting at these town hall meetings.
Were they expecting to take a victory lap, because tRump was delivering on his MAGA agenda?
If so, surprise! I definitely appreciate their constituents holding them accountable and not holding back on their displeasure with the current state of affairs.
Would’ve been a hell of a lot better for all (most especially, the “shocked” constituents) if they’d bothered paying attention to everything the Dems were saying last year during the campaign about Drumpf. What did the Dems say about Drumpf that hasn’t happened? If anything, the Dems were being too cautious with their warnings.
But the GOPers were all “Oh no, he’s just exaggerating; the Dems are fear-mongering; we’ll never let that ever happen.” And the far-too-complacent media just followed along the GOP script.
“Ignore at your peril.” Not so bright there, people.
I actually applauded sitting here at my desk. I just wish I had known about the town hall because I would have gone even though he’s not my Congressperson. Damn, that would have been fun. Hard questions demand answers and they don’t seem to have done very well at that, 😉
“The Democrats need to start working NOW on their midterm campaigns because next year could be too late.”
It will be if they pass the SAVE Act.
If you don’t know what it is, then please find out.
Oh, bloody hell.
it would’ve been nice if he would’ve identified the other Congressman.
Glenn Grothman is Tommy Tubesox, Gomer Comer and Gymbo Jordan rolled into one. he’s so damn stupid, LITERALLY stupid. I wonder who, or what, dresses him in the am. He’s my rep and while I do give him credit for doing town halls, his speeches don’t tell the folks a damn thing. Ask him a hard question (they are ALL hard for him) and he folds like a deck of cards and either doesn’t answer or tries to change subject….and if you persist in asking, he has his goons escort you out for being rowdy and “mean.” (yeah just about every one i get kicked out of for asking him to explain how Robert’s Rules of Order are used in the House proceedings…stumps him every time…🤣🤣)
I am heartened to see the lemmings starting to question him. these folks are mostly farmers and quite a few went belly up in Trumps last administration due to tariffs and from what I have read, this round of tariffs WILL sink many farms clearing the way for CAFOs….corporate owned farms which are cruel to animals and pollute. 600-1000 cows at one near me. it’s bad.
