This is hilarious! We have further proof that Trump is losing his mind. He comes up with these insane ideas that are only as good as the air he breathes – in other words, useless bullsh!t. He’s decided there will be something for every citizen in this country. We can bet it would only be for the “real” people in the US. Not immigrants. They don’t count as “real”, but they are that way only to Trump and a few others. There is a vast majority of us who *know* they are real. Are you ready for this? Good. From Mediaite via Raw Story:

In an effort to drum up support for his widely unpopular tariffs as the Supreme Court weighs the legality of them, President Donald Trump doubled down Sunday morning on his previous promises to pay out “a dividend of at least” $2,000 in stimulus checks to Americans, Mediaite reports. “People who are against Tariffs are FOOLS!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price. 401k’s are Highest EVER. We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high-income people!) will be paid to everyone.”

And we laugh again. It’s just another hairbrained idea. Like all the previous ones, he promises money that will never come. But for something like tariffs and bringing money into America, he’s full of it up to the swoosh hair. He’s going to keep all that lovely money and grift it to come his way personally. We know he will, and we will not see a penny of it. Babble, misdirect, obfuscation, lies.

And while Trump’s MAGA followers are thrilled by this idea, others think it’s downright disastrous, if it even happens. “OK, so Trump is creating a recipe for runaway inflation. 2k checks to irresponsible Americans will cause a spike in inflation in a couple of months. The 50-year mortgage will cause a massive increase in house prices,” wrote David Kaufmann on X.

Not so sure about that irresponsible Americans part. It seems really harsh. But one would think David has a basis in fact for coming out and saying something like that. Not surprised by MAGA being thrilled. It makes one wonder how they are going to feel when they never get the check. It’s *never* coming, and anyone who thinks it is better think again. And here are a couple more comments for you for us to close:

AI recruiting agent Will Blaze wrote, “So Trump is giving out $2k to everyone and taking stakes in American companies but Mamdani is a socialist? Idk what to believe anymore.” //// The Bulwark’s founder and publisher Sarah Longwell sarcastically reposted Trump’s Truth Social tirade, saying, “That will fix inflation, great plan. Very strong plan.” //// Journalist Kevin Manahan suggested that “Cash-strapped Americans should immediately charge an additional $2,000 worth of stuff for Christmas. Maybe book a vacation. Put 2K down on a new car or truck. Trump promised it, so the money is practically in the bank.” //// “I’m still waiting for my DOGE rebate check,” wrote another commenter on X.

DOGE rebate check. Hahaha NO. Not one of the smarter half of the country believes that, not even close. It’s not money until you have that check in your hand, and possibly not even then. Trump could change his mind and decide to invalidate Every. Single. Check. Trump will never give up money. No … no, he won’t. We won’t wait for something that’s never going to come.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. It will put Congress, who would have to pass legislation to do this in a helluva bind. Both Parties in fact. You are probably right that some in Trump’s circle will convince him it would drive up inflation next year, or at best keep it from dropping and there IS room for it to do so.

However it speaks to another and overlooked issue. Let’s say SCOTUS surprises us and themselves follow through on the display of doubt they cast on Trump’s tariffs and strike them down. It could open up a can of worms because it would actually be possible to rebate to businesses that paid the tariffs to the federal government to recoup them. GOP Congress Critters would LOVE the idea of helping business owners.

However, and this is where Trump’s crazy idea comes from that would do NOTHING for consumers, all those regular folks including every one of his MAGA goobers who ultimately paid those tariffs via higher prices at the point of retail. Those who in the end actually paid the tariffs, most of which were simply passed on to consumers would be as one pundit I saw put it ‘left out and get nothing.’

However there’s no way in hell legislation providing at least some payback to us could be enacted without business owners demanding, and getting their own payout first! It would be budget busting. Trump and the GOP are facing a choice: Keep business owners who struggled and absorbed at least some of the tariffs, or who went out of business “whole” even though they’d get a substantial payback or provide relief to consumers?

GOP devidict hawks would fight tooth and nail against helping either group. So, even if Trump brings it up again I think you’re right – it will go nowhere and Trump won’t care enough to push it.

  2. Drumpf stupidly said “We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high-income people!) will be paid to everyone.”

Well, that last bit about “(not including high-income people”) will automatically bring about legal challenges. There ARE legal ways to do that but a simple declaration specifically excluding an entire class of people from this theoretical dividend is not the way (especially since he says “at least $2000 a person”) and there is also the matter of what qualifies as “high-income.” Social Security income cap limit? (That’s a “paltry” $176,100 at the moment–income above that level is excluded from being taxed.) A million a year? Ten million a year? And you damn well know if Biden or Obama had made such a suggestion, the Fox “Business” folks would be ranting, screaming about “class warfare.”

As for that bit about “paying down” that national debt of $37 trillion, it’ll be interesting when someone points out to the self-proclaimed economic “genius” that paying $2000 (at least) to “everyone” (and, I’m guessing that’s only those “worthy” in Drumpf’s estimation–but let’s just say it’s a mere 50 million Americans which is about 15% of the current US population), he’s going to be giving out $100 billion (meanwhile, the interest on the national debt is reportedly pushing nearly $1 TRILLION a year–sure that means the $2000 per person is barely a drop in the bucket for the national debt but, you know, when you’re struggling to pay your bills, you don’t start planning a two-week European river cruise vacation or thinking about buying a brand-new, fully-loaded auto).

It’s also funny how he boasts about taking in “trillions of dollars” then we “will SOON begin paying down” the debt. Why haven’t you already put those “trillions of dollars” toward paying down that debt, lardbutt?
