The Sunday shows are always amusing. We get to watch Republicans squirm on the hook like worms being used for bait.

A lot of this would not be necessary, had the GOP not sold its soul to Donald Trump seven years ago, but oh, well. No sense bringing up that old bromide. All it does is stoke resentment or bounce off disbelieving ears.

Rick Scott is one of The Faithful. Whatever Trump does, he backs him. Notably, he makes a not so Freudian slip and refers to Trump as “the president.” President of what, Rick? Florida? Wingnuttia? Q World? Because he ain’t president of the United States. Not no more.

Racist nicknames and death threats, no problemo. It is exactly this erosion of moral fiber that the GOP is completely blind to and that is no small thing. They cannot keep making excuses for the man child with no impulse control, who makes no bones about the fact that he regards women as second class citizens and is a racist. That’s vintage Trump.

It’s also vintage Trump to make wildly inappropriate comments about his political opponents, like when he called upon “the second amendment people” to do something about Hillary Clinton. Mitch McConnell is now the one in Childe Trump’s crosshairs.

The man is a flaming idiot. As bad as that is, it’s not the worse part. The worse part is that the Republican party is a group of enablers. They have, in effect, cosigned on and ratified Trump’s worse behavior. If they had voted to remove him from office the first time he was impeached, there wouldn’t have been a January 6, let alone this insane counter culture narrative that the 2020 election was stolen.

If they had voted to remove him from office the second time he was impeached and bar him from ever seeking office again, neither we as a country nor the GOP as a party, would be in the mess we’re in. We as a nation are trying to move beyond Trump and continue free and fair elections. But Trump is backpedaling as fast as he can. He wants to stay in the spotlight and sow seeds of doubt about his lost election and all future elections.

And the Republican party is stuck with this clown — because that’s the choice they have made.

The election of Donald Trump was a $hit$how produced and directed by the Republican party. They owned it then and they own everything that has happened since then.

And they’re just fine with that. Just fine. They will show up on the Sunday shows and mouth platitudes because that’s what they do. It’s all lip service because deep down, they’re fine with all this. Just fine.

  1. In some ways Trump.is like Dubya,,who also liked to give nicknames,,mostly demeaning ones, to reporters and Del politicians. For Republicans, it is always bullying. Many of them.,including “moderates” like Romney were bullies in high school,,and haven’t outgrown that marry trait one whit.
Imagine if Biden called Rick Scott “Snake eyes” or “Voldemort”. Or Rand Paul ” Putrid”Paul. Or Paul.Today “Goofy Gosar.” Or Gourmet “Wile E. Coyote”.ou could hear the screaming on D.C. in Hawaii. Yes, he called the MAGA movement “semi-fascist” but that was defining an ideology–and quite correctly.

  2. Well he did sign a huge tax break for his rich buddies, put three fascists on the Supreme Court, put into the system a multitude of corrupt judges and federal employees, and made hypocrisy look like child’s play. Oh and he made racism & political violence seem legit. He’s their boy.
