Turnabout is fair play, but not in the conveniently lopsided world of Marjorie Taylor Greene. She loves to dish it out but she sure can’t take it, as you will see.

This raises an interesting point as well. The reporter, Andrew Solender of Axios, is asking her reasonably to account for the things she has said in front of Congress. She vehemently denies being “pro-Putin” yet what else in the world would you call it when she says “real Americans don’t care about Ukraine?” How is that not a pro-Russia, anti-Ukraine comment?

It raises two questions: 1) Is Marge merely spouting talking points and she knows she’s messed up by taking the stance she has, or 2) Does she live in some dream world where she will never be held accountable? Or maybe both are the case. In all events, it’s a pleasure to watch her peeved.

Now, class, we are going to compare and contrast the reporter to Marge Greene’s behavior chasing David Hogg down the street.

Midway through this clip she says that Hogg “has nothing to say because he’s paid to do this.” What about you, Marge? Are you paid to do what you do? By whom and for how much?

I don’t know if Greene has thought through the game she’s playing to its logical end, but her years in Congress are numbered, perhaps more severely than she thinks. Her only chance to remain relevant and become powerful would be if her idol Donald Trump gets back in the White House and then does a Vladimir Putin number, having the legislature change the constitution so that he can stay in power more than two terms.

On those facts, Trump as Dictator, she might do okay. He might give her the entire state of Georgia or more to rule as her own fiefdom.

But if she has to be reelected on her own? And stand on her own record? She’s toast. Maybe nobody has bothered to explain this to her. Or, maybe nobody can. But Greene is toast, it’s a question of when not if. Unless she does a Paul Gosar, with a heavily gerrymandered district. That is one possibility that would allow her to stay in office and about the only one.

She’s one of the most hated women in America, and laughed at by the rest of the world as well. I hope she’s getting something in return that’s worth it.

  1. She’s hoping to set herself up like Sarah Palin did – as a big money right wing media star if she can’t get re-elected. Of course like Palin she will flame out, and only be heard of sporadically after the crash & burn. Perhaps she will do a better job of managing the money from her contract than Palin did but I can’t help but wonder if she’s developed enough bad habits as a Congress Critter burning through PAC money for travel and “campaign/advocacy” expenses that she’ll blow the few million she gets to be a “contributor” for Faux Nooz or some other entity.

  2. She follows her leader. Denies what he previously said & did on video & audio tape. Being born into wealth & raised evidently as a spoiled princess is a recipe for being a fraudulent bitch. The only worse fate is having her for a mother.

That’s a bigger longshot than Trump getting back in the White House in the first place. To change the Constitution requires a full-fledged amendment and the amendment process has virtually nothing that gets by with a simple majority vote. First, a proposed amendment must pass BOTH HOUSES of Congress with a TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY (~290 members of the House, ~67 members of the Senate*). Then, it must be approved/ratified by THREE-FOURTHS of the States (ie, 38 states via legislative action).

Given today’s political atmosphere, the odds of getting such an amendment through 2/3 of both the House and Senate and then ratified by 3/4 of the states, well, you have a better chance of winning the Publishers’ Clearing House lifetime weekly payments AND winning every lottery you play AND having the IRS determine that you’ve overpaid your income taxes for the last 25 years AND having Bill Gates and Warren Buffett send you $5,000,000 (tax-free) out of the blue. And then there’s the matter of getting it ratified in time for Trump to benefit. Not counting the original Bill of Rights amendments (which took less than 2 years and 3 months to complete ratification), just over half the remaining amendments (9, to be exact) have required less than a year to be ratified. The 18th took 13 months, the 19th took just under 15 months, the 24th took just over 16 months, the 25th took just over 19 months and the 14th took just over 2 years. The 16th took nearly 3 years and 7 months and the 22nd (the one which limited presidential terms) took almost 4 years to be ratified. And the last amendment actually added (in 1992, for the record) took a full 202 years from passing the House and Senate to full ratification.

*The “~” refers to the amendment process requires 2/3 of members present so fewer members present would lessen the necessary number for the 2/3 vote (although there must be a quorum to conduct business in the first place). If only 400 members of the House are present, only 267 votes are needed to approve. (Scarily, though, if there’s a simple quorum of 218, then only 145 votes would be needed–although certainly that would likely lead to a court challenge.)

Additionally, there IS an alternative option involving a “convention” called by Congress but it’s unclear if this can be done for a single amendment or if it is only intended for a massive change to the entire Constitution.

  4. I have family in MTG’s district, and I was there not long ago. It’s like a different world. You don’t know that district. Those people ARE nuts enough to re-elect her.
