What would be funny, is if this could become an ad on Fox News today. That would be a killer. Or an ad on any network but Fox News would obviously be the best choice.
I hope this ad grows some legs and gets widely seen. It’s only been up 18 hours.
These are the kind of statistics the dems should be messaging, loud and clear.
I agree Democrats should be and should have been messaging that crime data ever since the GOP made crime a major talking point. But here’s the thing – they should NOT have EVER had to spend money (or not a lot) on ads to get this out. If JOURNALISTS had been doing their effing jobs and explaining this complete with that chart, AND noting that going back decades (my entire life and I’m in my mid-sixties) the per capita murder rate in small town/rural America has ALWAYS been higher than in cities. Robberies, both of homes and businesses too has always been just as big a problem in those large swaths of small-town/rural America which is RED America! It’s just in the cities the number of people is so much larger and concentrated in such a small area compared to say where I grew up. Southern Illinois, which to those of us from there is the part of Illinois south of I-64 (look at a map) rather than the way Chicago folks define it. To them, anything south of Cook/DuPage county is “downstate” or “southern” Illinois. I lived for almost two decades in northern VA (the area across the river from DC comprised of Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County. Over time parts of Prince William county were often included in that mix. But the rest of the state including the Richmond and Norfolk areas were considered a whole different state, and they looked at us the same way!
But getting back to my point, I once again say “journalists” have been steadily committing MALPRACTICE on this and other issues and not just recently. Because the bosses the own and/or control the outlets don’t want a well-informed public! Those powers-that-be and frankly almost all of the “talent” are freaking rich. They WANT their fucking tax cuts to continue! They want the already way too much consolidation of print and media outlets into just a few media empires to continue without any pesky govt. regulation. So they WANT the GOP to have power! It’s that appallingly simple.
There’s that, plus TV networks know that keeping Trump in the news is good for ratings. I cringe at how pathetically weak most TV “journalists” are when they interview GOP officials. They’re afraid no one will come on their show if they ask tough questions.
Perhaps the media (especially Faux Noose) needs to watch ‘Battleship Potemkin’ to discover what happens when the ratings get the upper hand
