Here is a blast from the past. The introduction of theocrat Sean Feucht into the mix last night when Ron DeSantis appeared at a “church service” of his, brought up memories. These are clips from a celebration on the National Mall last fall, where the “religious” gathered to discuss politics in fascist terms. All the usual bases were covered, abortion is bad because the subjugation of women is good, other religions are the enemy and of course the elevation of Donald Trump to godlike stature.

This is pure Hollywood. Back when the motion picture industry was new, the publicists created the myth of the Hollywood star. The stars were not like you and me. They didn’t have to eat, sleep, breathe as we mere mortals do. They were on another plane entirely.

The reason for this mythmaking was to sell tickets. If you believed Clark Gable could defend a village singlehandedly with one gun, you would buy a ticket to all his films. If you knew he had dentures and a bad heart, you might not set him on such a pedestal.

Watch the introduction to Trump and how they make him holy. Try not to lose your breakfast.

Watch all three of these clips below. In addition to the topics of abortion and anti-Muslim sentiment, you’ll see the discussion turn to violence. “Anybody got a bazooka?”

Go to the bottom clip. That’s where the call out to a religious war happens. I characterize it that way because this is how all religious wars start. The infidel, whichever religion that might be on any given day, cannot be saved. Therefore, the demonic infidel must be eliminated. The first step is to ask for the infidel to be saved.

Let me make my position on this clear. I think these people are dangerous. I see a confluence of societal factors which herald bad things. The educational system has failed and people lack critical thinking skills. The society is split in two now, education being the key. The uneducated hate and fear the educated, the “elites.” That’s why there’s all the traction for COVID being a hoax, and climate change being a hoax, all the way to the extreme end of the spectrum where people claim that the moon landing never took place, neither did the holocaust, and the earth is flat.

Next, you have the right-wing disinformation machine churning 24/7 with Fox News, OAN, Newsmax and right-wing radio. Lies and fabulism are the order of the day. It’s too much for the average person. Many people don’t know what to believe anymore. We’ve always been a nation of divergent opinions, but at least before we always agreed on the facts. No more. We live in a Tower of Babel of misinformation.

Now we see how the religious extremism plugs in. We’ve seen the QAnons gather in Dallas waiting for the second coming of John F. Kennedy and or his son, and they drink chemicals out of communal bowls, ala Trump telling people to drink bleach. Then there’s the craziness that you’ve seen in these clips and last night at the Sean Feucht “church service” where Ron DeSantis was featured. the crowd was maskless while COVID rages in Florida. DeSantis criticized the federal government, just as Sean Feucht does, because Feucht wants to see democracy go and theocracy come. DeSantis touted Florida as “the free-est state” and it harkens back to the states rights arguments of the 1860’s.

Religious fanatics are dangerous. They are dangerous because they can convince themselves that their every whacky and all too human impulse is the will of God.

I see these three factors, lack of education/critical thinking skills, right-wing disinformation, and religious extremism as a powder keg. I think it behooves us to watch all of this very closely.

  1. These idiots talk about Antifa as if it actually exists. If it did, every American should be a card carrying member! Antifa stands for Anti-Fascist. This country has fought wars against Fascist Dick-Taters. And yet the RWQNJs want to install a fascist Dick-Tater in our white house! NOT ON MY WATCH!!!!

    • We are going to have to make as many people as possible aware of what is going on. The left needs to fight right-wing disinformation. That’s an absolute must.

      • I wish we would see more evidence of the Dems fighting right-wing disinformation. It seems like that isn’t our specialty. We need to have more education/instruction/hints on what your average, everyday person can do to help combat this. I always wondered why the German people allowed Hitler to take over. Now I realize that each of us in concerned, but there isn’t a whole lot an average citizen can do.

        • The Democrats have to start fighting the disinformation. I’m not the only person with that opinion. I’m starting to read it elsewhere. That’s going to be a prevalent theme this year, I believe, especially with the election coming up.

    • These idiots do not understand that. Have you never heard the way they’re so quick to attack Nazis as “socialists” because the English translation of the German Nazi Party is “National Socialist German Workers’ Party” (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei)? They don’t understand that right-wing parties in Europe (and Europeans in general) aren’t all that freaked out over the concept of “socialism” (much like the right-wing idiots don’t get that Jesus essentially was preaching the idea of socialism before the term existed and most of them really enjoy a lot of “socialism” like “Social Security” and “agricultural subsidies”).

  2. I don’t know if it’s true but in the last day I’ve seen more than one story about the FL Governor’s wife having cancer. If that’s true, then WTF? Is he TRYING to kill her off? Because he figures unlike Trump he can’t get away with trading her in for a younger wife? If she’s fighting cancer odds are she’s unvaccinated if I understand the guidelines. And here he is taking part in yet another super-spreader event. She’s been trotted out at many of them herself. Maybe SHE has a death wish. Maybe she hates her S.O.B. husband and figures dying of Covid might torpedo his Presidential ambitions. If her prognosis isn’t good she might figure it would be some nice payback on him!

I couldn’t help notice your bazooka comment. Back in my jarhead days (long ago when dinosaurs ruled this earth) I was a grunt. Infantry. (And yes, while I could have had any Military Occupational Specialty I wanted I volunteered to be a grunt) Within the 0300 M.O.S. classification there are specialties, and I was put into the Weapons Platoon training which had three groups. Machine Gunners, Mortarmen, and Anti-Tank/Assult. Guess which one I was?

    • As we have seen previously, cancer is no reason to stay married or so one would believe after observing newt’s behavior. But then I guess divorcing one’s wife when she has cancer is a “family value”.

These people are fucking scum. And if those fascists think we Jews trust anything they do, they’re dumber than I thought (which puts them about even with algae). Bibe might give them lip service but most Jews do not. Of course we have our own problem with fundies amongst us….

  3. Not sure about those guidelines. I have neighbors, he was in treatment for cancer when vaccines first became available, and they asked me to help them get in for vaccine. His chemo providers recommended that they both get vaccinated. It may depend on the type of cancer and the specifics of treatment.
