Survey Says!? Hoo boy, folks, this is something we guessed, but now we have some proof. This is regarding a reputable survey that shows Trump’s non-MAGA voters are slipping away. He thought he could hold onto them without trying, and he was and is so wrong. He doesn’t notice, secure in his own ego that he will keep everything he’s done, and he’s wrong. He’ll never see it. He won’t see it because he doesn’t care about Americans. Everyone knows he said that, and it’s going to burn him. The flames are growing higher. With appreciation for AlterNet:
Bulwark founder Sarah Longwell hosts frequent surveys with Trump supporters. And her latest foray reveals Trump’s fans have had it with the president’s failure to deliver on promises; however, they may sit home in a huff as Republicans tumble in November. “My brain is literally spinning with so much,” reports one Trump-voting woman. “I think that he sold us a bag of — I’m not going to curse, but I do not like the way things are going, even with ICE. And border control for me was a very big thing. That was one of my biggest concerns with this election: cleaning up the country and getting these dangerous illegals out. But I don’t like how innocent people, professionals, have been incarcerated or taken.”
Someone finally noticed! It seems that miracles do happen. Trump lied, and he did it in a big way, just to stay out of jail and do inane things like pardoning J6ers. The brakes have been removed for ICE/CBP. But she’s not saying they should stop. She wants dangerous illegals taken out. ICE doesn’t recognize that nicety. They grab and go. They don’t separate the okay from the not okay. With these new, poorly trained thugs going out, they don’t care. They get to abuse people for money.
Many others evinced outward fury at Trump’s lies about his plan to improve the U.S. economy and U.S. households. “Unless you are a millionaire, regular everyday things that used to be very common are nearly impossible to do, whether it be outings or just going to get something to eat,” complained another Trump-voting woman, and I’ve never paid $9 for ground beef before, ever, not even the good kind. That is really, really crazy and getting very scary.”
All of us can certainly attest to that. It’s not just groceries, either. Medications are changing, even for the store brand. Clothing is certainly changing. Something that was $2.49 is up to over $5 or more. UPS has a fuel surcharge. The post office may also have one for anything that is not a regular letter. Anything that needs to move fast, well, you pay about 30 % for fuel. It’s frightening to lay out how much is going up. It’s easier, and just as true, that *everything* is going up with no end in sight.
“Inflation’s high … but he was supposed to help bring it down,” complained one Trump-voting man in the survey. “I think it’s worse now than it was when Biden was president, with the gas going up real high and stuff. Plus, they talked about maybe giving a stimulus payment to help with inflation, and I don’t think that’s ever even going to happen.” And “these are not the swing voters,” Longwell reminded podcast guest speaker Amy Walter, editor-in-chief of The Cook Political Report. “These are just Trump voters.”
It’s going to backfire seriously when midterms come around. They’ll stay home. That should give Democrats a bit of a boost. If they’re angry with Trump, they won’t want to support Republicans either. The majority of them are attached to Trump’s arse. Even those who have been screwed over (Looking at you, John Cornyn) are sticking to him like glue. So much for Republicans growing a spine.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
