What a day for the books yesterday was and what a day today is shaping up to be. We are following in real time, and live, in living color, the collapse of not only Donald Trump but of the Republican party and perhaps of MAGA as well. It’s hard to predict what will happen to MAGA. The last time we saw something this strange, the locale was Guyana and there were hundreds of dead bodies and empty kool-aide vats. And the charismatic leader of that cult had put a bullet through his brain. The Trump saga won’t end that way. He doesn’t have the guts.

Trump was in New Hampshire last night crowing about how he was fit as a fiddle and ready to play. This was after a day of mouthing off to Judge Lewis Kaplan and then having his attorneys later move the court to remove the judge from this hearing. More about that in a subsequent piece here on PZ. What you need to focus on right now is Trump’s 1:00 a.m. rant on Truth Social. He’s basically asking the Supreme Court to grant him the ability to shoot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue and walk. You don’t believe me? Voila.

At first blush, it appears to me that the Insurrection is being characterized as a “well intended mistake.” Or, perhaps the removal of classified documents and the refusal to return them when requested is a well intended mistake. Or, trying to get Brad Raffensperger to “find 11,000 votes” is a well intended mistake. Look on the bright side here, at least Trump is finally alluding to the fact that he may have made a mistake and is glossing it over as “well intended.” That’s major progress for this guy, who has gone on record saying he never asked Almighty God for forgiveness because he’s never done anything wrong.

Trumpty is freaking. That much is evident.

This is true enough. The White House has counsel to advise the office of the president, not necessarily the president as a private client. Trump and Don McGahn used to dance the fandango over that one.

Let’s take out Occam’s Razor for just a moment now, shall we? I think it’s very safe to say at this stage of the game that Trump is finally waking up to the fact that he is in terrible trouble and that this is not going to go away. I also think that it’s obvious that Trump had no problem doing any of the things he did and for which he stands accused, because he honestly was so stupid that he believed that he could do them.

A combination of stupidity and the hubris to not listen to anybody is what brings Don Don the Clown to this tragic ending that he’s facing. What a shame it’s also affected so many other millions of people so negatively. There’s no price you can put upon that.

In any rate, sooner or later, 2024 is the year, Trump’s fate will be decided. And so will ours.

  1. He’s the only one going through “years of trauma, trying to determine good from bad”.
The rest of us are pretty clear on that point. We were clear on it during his residency and during the insurrection.

    • Touche! Yes, he’s finally waking up. I honestly believe that he thought he could get away with whatever he wanted to do. It’s only now finally dawning on him that this is real and he’s not going to be able to buy his way out of it.

  2. A well-intended insurrection. Interesting thought. An insurrection is exactly that regardless of one’s “intentions”: I might “intend” to use the money I rob from a bank but that doesn’t absolve me of committing the crime of felony robbery. Insurrections are covered in our Constitution and there are no exceptions for well-intended insurrections. Dingleberry is giving ammunition to the less savory creatures in our country, particularly in our politics, because I don’t think he’ll get away with another coup attempt: we’re on to him especially the federal government.

No mistake was made. He knew going into J6 how to mask his intentions all while making sure the idiots who participated in the treason knew what he wanted. I do not credit Dingle with much intelligence but it does not take much to manipulate others particularly when they too are of minimal intelligence. He knew his audience and manipulated them in an attempt to overthrow our government. His intentions matter not one whit.

  3. So, does this mean Bill Clinton can have everything for which he was found guilty or held accountable completely forgiven and/or expunged?
It’s so funny how the GOP was adamant, back then, that NO ONE was above the law, and not even a quarter century later, they seem to just want to let Trump get away with anything and everything.

  4. Was it a mistake for Trump to commit crimes? Hell yes. Was he well-intentioned at any time? Hell NO. As has been the case his entire despicable life he acted for his own purposes & gratification. He didn’t care who was hurt, if laws were broken or anything else. ONLY that he got what he wanted at any given time. Same with the crimes he committed and inspired trying to stay in the WH. He had intentions alright. But good? Not one bit.

  5. If it was a ‘mistake’ then why are you still lying about 2020? LIAR…go directly to jail and there you can review your ‘mistakes’.

  6. He broke the law from day one. Let us not even think about Putin and how our foreign policies under Trump mirrored the desires of Russia. The Muslim ban was illegal until on the third try the Republican SC said it wasn’t. His tariffs were illegal, but again his bought and paid for SC said it wasn’t. His embezzlement of government funds to build a tiny part of his cheep ‘wall’ was illegal and his embezzlement of government funds to bribe/threaten Ukraine into lying for him was illegal and once again the Republicans let him off. This is just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. Trump is looking bad and my fear is he will die before we can put him in jail.

  7. From the home office in Butt, Fla. –

The top ten reasons trump denies having been an officer –

    10. Couldn’t pull over a speeder.

    9. Couldn’t get a BJ from a female speeder.

    8. When he watched “Officer and a Gentleman” he thought Tom Cruise had multi-personalities.

    7. He’s neither an officer or a gentleman.

    6. Officers are not supposed to hang out with non-officers but he palled around with low-lifes.

    5. It’s a three syllable word and he doesn’t do them.

    4. He spells it “offisir.”

    3. Putin told him to be a dictator if he won the election.

    2. Referred to the WH oval office as a lair.

    1. Jervanka was the President.

  8. This isn’t a,tragedy. An actual tragedy in the literary sense requires a great hood o man whose fatal.flaw causes his downfall. With Hamlet, it is his hesitancy leading to an inability to act and do what honor demands until it is too late. In Macbeth it is hubris. (I maintain that Arthur Miller’s Death of a,Salesman is not a tragedy because the protagonist is neither great nor good, just an annoying ,,sad little man without the courage to soldier on).
Trump has never been good and his greatness has been a facade and an invention. He suffers from.hubris; that much is true. Instead, this is more of a crime drama where the corrupt bad guy finally gets his.
