This is coming from the guy who started a riot. But then again, he would know, right? After all, he has experience with sedition. He has gone on the attack again. It shouldn’t be a surprise. But this is the closest he’s gotten to saying anything severe about the ’fake news,’ and it’s a little disturbing. No, make that a lot disturbing. Is he going to throw the DoJ against the media, or at least these particular entities? They wouldn’t be able to get very far with it. He would have to go against specific people, because they would be laughed out of court if they tried to go bigger. With gratitude to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump took a jab at The New York Times and CNN during a press conference at the White House on Thursday.
The president had a meltdown over some of the important reporting around the Iran war and his administration when he pointed to The Times, a news organization Trump has had a contentious relationship throughout his political career.
He has frequently attacked the newspaper on social media, called it “fake news” and referred to the publication as an “enemy of the American people.”
That’s because they don’t flatter and suck up to him. They are about the real news, not Trump’s news. We should be happy that we still have organizations that go after the actual truth. CBS is a lost cause. Amazon is a lost cause. ABC and NBC are actually unknown. We don’t see anything about them in the news at all. There are more gazillionaire-owned news sources that have Trump as their master. We don’t need to lose the last two we have. Come to think of it, he hasn’t said much about MS NOW, either, not after the MSNBC rebranding. Does that count as NBC? If so, at least they try. They have Jen Psaki and Rachel Maddow, two women with a strong following who speak the truth. Ms. Psaki probably galls Trump, since she was the press secretary for former President Biden.
“And yet in I read in The New York Times, I see it on the stupid CNN, which I only watch because you have to watch a little bit of the enemy, so I watch it for a very short period,” Trump said..
“But you have to, you have to be smart.
And if you see CNN, you’d think they’re winning the war,” he added. “If you read The New York Times, it’s actually seditious, in my opinion.
You read The New York Times you actually think they’re winning the war. I read some of these columnists and — but it all starts at the top. It’s a terrible thing.”
Hold up now. Is he comparing The New York Times to the riot he started? Because that is way, way, way out there. Yes, we know his mind is slipping away a little bit more each day, but this statement, this idea of his, how much trouble is it going to create? The NYT is *not* seditious. Not even close. So where did he get the idea that it was? It’s really random, even for him. Who is going to take his word as gospel and do something physically? Because there are people out there who will happily do what Trump wants, even with all he’s pulled up to now.
The Times has extensively investigated Trump’s business dealings, finances and conduct both during his first and second term as president, publishing numerous investigative reports that Trump has disputed and denied.
He filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the publication in September 2025, which a judge later dismissed.
The Times is serious about its work. They can back up everything they say. Same for CNN. While other media are doubtful, these two don’t pull punches. Did you notice that the lawsuit was tossed? It’s another one of Trump’s favorite tricks. Sue someone into oblivion or until they do anything he wants. Think of the law firms and the universities. Slapping someone with a lawsuit causes them a lot of problems, even if it gets thrown out. It’s just another attack from Trump.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
