This is getting old and tired. Will he ever figure out that empty threats are worse than silence, that the other side knows he won’t do any such thing, that they brush it off like you brush a piece of lint off your shirt? Why the hell bother? But no. He just keeps going, and he’s going to crash into the wall of indifference soon. With gratitude for Raw Story:

Just ahead of making his appearance at a national prayer event at the nation’s capital, President Donald Trump issued yet another genocidal threat against Iran on Sunday, warning the Middle East nation that if its leaders didn’t “get moving fast” on agreeing to a deal, there would soon be nothing “left of them.”

Oh, brother. Bloviate and bluster, it’s the Trump Way. His timing is … unique. The day before a prayer event, and he still can’t back down for a millisecond. There is no point to this, no endgame. It’s just Trump thinking threats make him more powerful, when now, all it does is the opposite. People roll their eyes and go back to ignoring him. He’s interesting for all of 5 seconds.

“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

It’s the same old story. Threats, threats, and more threats, empty promises that never follow through. Iran is coming out on top of this. We lost the war. 99.9% of us know it, and Iran knows it, too. They know they’re holding the world hostage. They know it is getting worse for every minute that passes. But Trump thinks he holds the cards. He holds nothing.

Trump’s threat comes just ahead of Rededicate 250, a national prayer event held on the National Mall that was organized by the Trump-aligned group Freedom250, a recipient of millions of taxpayer dollars.

The threat bears similarities to Trump’s ominous message he shared this past Easter Sunday, when he threatened to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure, actions that would likely constitute war crimes.

Two days later, Trump followed those remarks with an even more ominous threat when he warned that “an entire civilization will die tonight,” comments that were widely condemned as genocidal.

And yes, that first time caused a whole lot of worry and stress, especially for us, because we were looking at our ‘president’ ordering a genocide. A lot of the world doesn’t see Trump as a problem. They look at America. After all, there were people in this country who re-elected him. Those of us who didn’t have a voice to say America really isn’t like this, especially not when we’re being pressed to the ground in our country, all of the different factors coming to roost on our shoulders. Trump doesn’t care. America is not the place it was a year and a few months ago. That hurts. Y’know?

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
