Trump let the cat out of the bag

Teri closed last night, so I was fortunate enough to still be asleep, and thereby miss the post massacre pep talk from the caretaker of the workshop of broken toys. But I caught more than enough replay snippets once I got up to let me know that I didn’t miss a damn thing.

But even with only truncated material to work with, I was amazed yet again as to how much self destructive blather His Lowness is capable of creating, especially when you consider the thought that he was reading from a fucking teleprompter a set of remarks written for him, since none of them appear on the $1 menu at McDonald’s.

First, Trump blamed the toxic atmosphere of the internet, and tha rampant racism and hatred contained therein, for the current level of hatred and mistrust in this country. Pardonez moi, but isn’t this the same internet that you yourself, with considerable assistance from your buddy Vlad the Imp. liberally fire hosed down with enough bigoted, corrosive sludge that you creepy slid all the way into the Oval Office? The same internet you continue to use to refer to other human beings as an “invasion,” and “an infestation,” and as a bullhorn to tell American citizens to “go back where they came from?” Spoiler alert, your Freudian slip is showing.

Then he blamed the rampant violence on the excessive gore content of video games. Video games  This coming from a man with such pathetic manual dexterity and situational awareness that his most famous Twitter utterance was “covfefe.” And I find it amusing that while profoundly violent games can easily be ordered online, with no effective means of age verification, you can’t find a classic Loony Tunes cartoon on commercial television to save your soul, because they’re considered to be too violent for young children.

But then Trump swung for the fences, and ho, mama, did he hit a grand slam home run. In his desperate efforts to absolve human septic tanks like Wayne “Pepe” LaPierre, and the death merchants from responsibility, Trump instead pivoted and said that what we as a country needed to address to end to gun violence in this country was not new laws, nay it was the pernicious underbelly of mental health. This literally freaked the fuck outta me, since I just posted a tweet two days ago reminding everyone that Trump’s first substantive domestic bill he signed into law, erased the Obama era regulations requiring mental health background checks! But be that as it may, with that ill considered pronouncement, son, you in a heap of trouble.

Because, with that sonorous pronouncement on a renewed national push on mental health, Glorious Bleater just blew the GOP out of the healthcare debate for the 2020 election. Why? Because, what is the easiest way to not only encourage, but implement expanded mental health services in the United States? Universal fucking medical coverage, that’s how! Whether you go with Bernie or Elizabeth’s Medicare-for-all, or Biden or Harris’ medicare-buy-in option to private coverage, it’s the quickest, easiest way to ensure that people can receive the mental health care that they need, especially if Obamacare is expanded to provide regulations for the minimum care standards required.

Look, I grew up in Cicero, Illinois, just on the western border of Chicago, and I’m old enough to remember when the state had mental institutions. They gave most of them cute names like “sanitariums” if locking mentally ill people up in a building full of other screaming, twitching, mumbling other mentally ill people was restorative. But at least they were safe, warm, offered no threat to themselves or others, and received some form of mental health treatment. And here’s a blast from the archival past, it wasn’t the Democrats that pushed for, and rammed through laws cutting federal funding for state mental health facilities, it was the Republicans, leading directly to the current homeless problem we now enjoy, especially among veterans.

But, as important as mental health is to solving the crisis of exploding gun violence in America, it isn’t the root problem, nor does it fix it. Because guess what? Places like Denmark have batshit crazy people wandering around too. So does Belgium. And so does the Netherlands. Take my word for it. I’ve visited all three, and believe me, Amsterdam has some truly batchit crazy mofo’s in it. But hey, I live in Vegas, and every year we’re in the Final Four for the national championship for batshit crazy. But while everyplace has batshit crazy dudes and dudettes wandering around in them, you know what one thing all of the places outside of the US border DON’T have? The mentally ill people of those places don’t have unfettered and affordable access to military grade weapons of mass slaughter.

So, I’m sorry Mr. President, but as important as improved mental health in this country is, it isn’t the magic band aid to stopping mass shootings.  The combination of better mental health, and more restrictive access to weapons of mass destruction are by nature intricately intertwined. And if you honestly thing that you can wriggle your way out of this simply by locking up all of the “crazy people” out there, then you are the one who’s batshit crazy. See ya on visiting day, pal.

  1. With what I call a true, National Emergency, not like the pussy-grabbing, imbecile in the WH pushing for a truly National embarrassment wall ….

These shootings, we cringe at when we hear the NEXT ONE and the next … the flatulent failure, Moscow Mitch, should call for an emergency recall to the Senate for voting in the House bills for gun control, adding better functions as well ….

Every Republican taking money from the NRA, should be immediately disqualified to vote on the bills and Mitch, the wounded turtle, with fart soaked fingers, should be required to recuse himself up front, hell, let Schumer, or Ms.Harris, handle the political procedures,
get these damn things moving, they can be refined going forward, just no very dark money from the NRA ….

But it will be a HUGE project, using buy-backs and anything else that might reduce the numbers of these guns out there, but I truly believe the ammo is the way to slow down things, buyers would have to be permitted and vetted, right down to pictured ID’s, tough, you don’t like it TOO DAMN BAD …. background checks for ammo work when applied …. (no large purchases, [multiple hits on a national register] could flag a problem) …
