Finally, he has stopped blathering (Arch of Trump), misdirecting (East Wing), and boasting (Ballroom), and has actually, or so it seems, noticed the government shutdown entering its second month. He’s realized this is not a good look for *him* and Americans and to the world. Kinda makes us wonder if he’s going to *keep* remembering it, though. From Raw Story:
President Donald Trump issued a stern demand to Senate Republicans Saturday, telling them they “must blow up the filibuster,” while also insisting that Democratic lawmakers were “cracking like dogs” out of fear amid the ongoing government shutdown. Trump has increasingly demanded that Senate Republicans eliminate the filibuster – a procedural Senate rule that allows a bill to be blocked if it receives less than 60 votes – as a way to advance his agenda, which includes passing legislation to eliminate “transgender for everybody” and institute more tax cuts.
What the hell does that even mean? Transgender for everybody? And lawd help us *more* tax cuts? Well, who knows anything about the way his mind works now? He connects random things and puts them together in strange ways. He has trouble concentrating (hello, teleprompter? We need you) for more than a few moments. He falls asleep in public, as Ursula showed us today. The man is absolutely embarrassing. He thinks he’s fine. We know better.
“The Democrats are cracking like dogs on the Shutdown because they are deathly afraid that I am making progress with the Republicans on TERMINATING THE FILIBUSTER!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.“Whether we make a Deal or not, THE REPUBLICANS MUST ‘BLOW UP’ THE FILIBUSTER, AND APPROVE HUNDREDS OF LONG SOUGHT, BUT NEVER GOTTEN, POLICY WINS LIKE, AS JUST A SMALL EXAMPLE, VOTER ID (IDENTIFICATION). Only a LOSER would not agree to doing this!”
Not. Even. Close. Blather blather blather broken record. Now, one must admit that the Democrats are part of the shutdown. But we’re proud of them because it’s for something major, something that should be brought back. Health insurance is pretty major for the country. Open enrollment just started a few days ago. Some folks might be lucky and their payments only double. Others have increases in the thousands of percents. Shutdown to get those credits back? Sounds good to me. We won’t get into the SNAP debacle right now. Someone should point out Democrats aren’t dogs to be “cracking”, Ha. We aren’t anything to be “cracking” because we aren’t. To close:
Republicans, however, have remained skeptical of the idea, with some voicing fears that doing so could open the door for Democrats to advance their own policy agendas should they regain the majority in Congress. Trump has managed to sway some Republican senators. Others, however, remain skeptical, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who, despite not having the authority to eliminate the filibuster as a member of the House, openly defied Trump on his request earlier this week.
Whoa now. Moses Mikedy stood up to Trump? Can’t be true. Trump is his god. Hence, leaving the House in limbo, out of session because he’s afraid to swear in the newest member. We’ve already gone over that, so no need to repeat it. Shake My Head. Shake all of ours. So yes, Trump is panicking, and most of the Republicans in the Senate are not budging on it. It’s going to take a miracle to end the shutdown. No idea of where to get one. Republicans weren’t expecting this. With any luck, some will give up and come over to the Democratic “Dark Side” (heh). Republicans weren’t expecting us Democrats and *definitely* weren’t expecting us to be so stubborn. Good.

If, as he says, the democrats were “cracking” the republicans wouldn’t have to do anything and they would win. Isn’t cracking like caving? Clearly I don’t understand what he’s talking about.
Drumpf doesn’t understand how the Senate and its glorious filibuster work.
Thune probably knows it’s pointless to explain to Drumpf why he won’t “go nuclear” on the filibuster with regard to the budget but he NEEDS those elusive Democrats so when the economy completely collapses after the budget’s horrid reality comes crashing down on everyone, he can put ALL the blame on those Democrats who voted for it. The economic crash will NEVER be the GOP’s fault (much less Drumpf’s fault) as long as Thune has a single Democratic vote to pass the budget. And the voters will be too stupid to realize it (especially after the billionaire donors spend all their “tax cut” windfall on campaign contributions to blame the Democrats and get more GOPers into office to pass even more tax cuts so the billionaires will not only NOT paying taxes, they’ll actually be getting billions in refunds).
