Yes, we knew *that* because of the nasty screeds he puts out on Truth Social. However, there’s more to it than just Truth Social rants. It’s affecting his thinking during the day, as well. That’s a large part of the reason he’s so erratic. He can’t think straight. We could argue he doesn’t think at all, but there are times when he does. Do you remember Trump going up to the roof of the White House and yelling things down to the press? Sleep deprivation likely gave us that one. Did he think before we started lobbing things at Iran? Probably. And removing the blockade, yes, he thought about that one. Thanks to Raw Story:

President Donald Trump’s sleep schedule is truly abnormal, and he seems to be becoming more erratic because of it, according to a new analysis.

The Daily Beast reported on Sunday that Trump was up at all hours of the night posting on Truth Social on at least 80% of the nights in April.

There were only five days in April when the president didn’t post between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to the report, which raises concerns about Trump’s brain health and his increasingly erratic behavior.

That certainly could be a cause. Likely, there are multiple things keeping him from sleeping. Cases with the Supreme Court. The war with Iran. The state of the country, although it is very small, is as it may be. How much money does he have? What his cabinet is doing. It could be anything. He needs to cut it out.

The analysis concluded that Trump appears to get about three hours of sleep per night, which is much less than what doctors and sleep experts recommend.

Joanna Coles, the Daily Beast’s chief content officer, and Hugh Dougherty, the outlet’s executive editor, discussed the report on a new episode of “The Daily Beast Podcaston Sunday.

Coles said the report suggests Trump is “having anxiety in the middle of the night.”

Gee, ya THINK? Anxiety is certainly Trump’s close companion. Look at the reasons just discussed. He has a lot to worry about. Money is probably the only thing he *doesn’t* worry about. He has ongoing grifts that are making money just fine. But everything else? Oh, yes. He ran for office to stay out of jail. Now he has to actually work as the ‘president’. He figured he’d sign a few things and then golf the rest of the time. Nope.

Dougherty added that Trump’s sleep habits may be related to his increasingly erratic decision-making, such as his decision to institute a counter blockade in response to Iran’s efforts to shut down the Strait of Hormuz.

“I think this week has been very in line with the forecast about his decision making, and the erratic nature of what he does appears most obviously in … the war in Iran, and this bizarre blockade aftermath is all about erratic decision making,” Dougherty said.

Trump is not the only world leader to operate on short sleep. Margaret Thatcher slept for between four and five hours a night, according to Dougherty, which could explain why she seemed so “out of touch” at the end of her reign as U.K. Prime Minister.

Trump needs to sleep. That’s obvious with all the craziness coming out of him. If someone needs to tell him this and get him to do so, who will he listen to? His doctors? Who? We joke around about the Adderall, but he seriously needs something to calm him down and get him to sleep. He’s getting worse every day. And no one can get him out of there. Isn’t that fun?

See you tomorrow!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Is he on any kind of meds for the dementia? There are good ones out there. My sister has dementia and her meds keep her at a very mild level. She still has problems with memory and logic, but the acting out, anger etc. are greatly reduced. Too bad he doesn’t have anyone to help him with this, if he’d even listen to them, which is doubtful.

    • Even if he was on meds, like he should be, we would never know. I think he needs to be medicated, but I’m no doctor. All I know is what I’ve been told and what I’ve read.
