We have to hope he’s smarter than to try. I’m thinking it’s a 50-50 chance as to whether he will or not. His lackeys would certainly egg him on to keep trying. “Think of the glory,” they might say. “Show the power of the tRump Administration! Show them who you really are!” The lackeys may not see the forest for the trees. They may not think through what could happen if he tries a return salvo. They may not think through to an ignominious ending. They rarely think, anyhow.

Let’s talk about the wars. China. China, which Agent Orange is trying to bring to its knees. They have slapped back at him and seem to have no problem escalating if he does. Our import tariffs in China are nearly as high. They have stopped accepting some US Exports, like beef. They have stopped *their* exports of rare earth minerals that we desperately need. If anything, it’s more like *they* are bringing *America* to its knees. Not a good look, Trumpy boy. Surely you can think of a way to ease back to save face. Escalating is just going to make it worse.

Next is Harvard. Harvard, which is standing strong to his DEI demands. Harvard states they are going to teach the same curriculum and have the same staffing it’s always had. Harvard, which has the best law school in the *nation*. Harvard, which has some alumni in Congress. Harvard, which is thumbing its nose at you. Freeze the grants. Take away their tax-exempt status. They’re still not backing down. They can make up the lost money in another way. Donations are already pouring in. They can fight for the tax-exempt issue. They’ll have to have a good reason for taking that status away, and there isn’t one. It’s just Traitor Tot demanding something they refuse to give. And Harvard is setting an example for other schools across the country. tRump can do what he wants, but he’s going to come out with egg on his face.

I saved the best one for last, and it’s the Supreme Court. That’s a really *bad* war to fight. They made a very rare 9-0 decision and stated that “its abduction of a legal American resident and deportation to a dangerous prison in El Salvador, without any criminal charges, was illegal and unconstitutional.” The government is pushing back on that one. From AlterNet: The White House openly defied that unanimous ruling. On Monday, both Trump officials and the president of El Salvador said they could not return Kilmar Abrego Garcia. “Of course, I’m not going to do it,” El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said when asked. Trump sat by his side *with a smile on his face*. Attorney General Pam Bondi joined in the cruel imitation of justice: “That’s up for El Salvador if they want to return him.” What do you think? I think that after that sham of a display in a press conference, they’re not even going to try. And how is it that a senator went down and was able to see Kilmar Abrego Garcia, but the Republicans who went down and viewed CECOT didn’t even try? How telling is that? No, no, tRump and Pammy girl aren’t even going to try. After President Nayib Bukele posted those pictures on X, but then said he was going to keep him?  A little pressure might tell him that he would look Really Good if he sent him back after all. But back to the beginning of this. It was a nine-to-zero unanimous decision. El Presidente Imbécil might do well to step back and think about what that *really means*. It’s not a good idea to go against the Supreme Court. So, back off. Think of a spin to put on it. But stop pushing your luck because it will get UGLY.

The Mango Mandarin Messiah needs to stop and consider before continuing with any of these wars he cannot win. He needs to find spins that will allow him to step back and still look good without getting hammered by more than just the press. Otherwise, there may be an uprising in the US, at least regarding the trade war with China that is hurting *so* many people *so* badly, because they are tired and they are over it. Step back, President Trump. Step back and actually think.

  1. Remind us all again about who’s paying El Salvador to house all these folks being deported, Mr Drumpf. I believe that YOU made an arrangement by which the US is PAYING El Salvador to house all these new “prisoners.” So, what happens to these AMERICAN prisoners being held in El Salvador if the US Congress refuses to pay El Salvador to continue housing them?

And, more interestingly, if you’re so willing to have AMERICAN CITIZENS be imprisoned in foreign countries, why not just have more prisons built IN THE USA? I mean, okay, it’s not like the prison industry is necessarily one of the ones that Americans want to invest in (even if it means some construction jobs to build the prisons and then, of course, staffing the prisons means “jobs for Americans”) but, still, wouldn’t it be better for your whole “America First” proposal if Americans were building the prisons (with American tax dollars) and staffing the prisons, rather than “outsourcing the jobs?”

    • Joseph, I think that the main problem with your proposal from Trump’s perspective is that the imprisoned Americans would still be in the US and would thus have greater access to the American judicial system than they would have if they were in El Salvador or any other foreign country. Also, their fellow Americans could see and hear them better if they were closer.

  2. And the most important war is the one Trump is fighting against the American people. Everyone I talk to says Trump is a idiot (or worse language that I can’t quote here.) I’m sure there are some faithful Trumpists out there, but when he starts firing people from lifetime jobs, and then increases the costs of everything (after promising to lower costs), over time people are going to get angry. And there’s no voter more dangerous to him than an angry voter.

  3. 👏👏 Trump’s war with SCOTUS took a hit this morning! At 1:00 am, the order came down to stop this latest planned “deportation” of Venezuelans out of the country. This is a limited order about this one group of men detained in TX. But, it is also a halt for SCOTUS to consider the Alien Enemies Act and whether we are “at war” with a gang, AKA “Tren de Aragua.”

And, further information is coming out about Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s case. The questionable claims of the police officer,* that the administration has conflated from possible gang affiliation into rape and human trafficking, are looking less reliable all the time. A detective who was suspended, for revealing case information to a confidential informant/sex worker he was paying for sex, sounds like a bad cop to me. Actually, he sounds like the subject of a limited series on Peacock TV! He does not sound like the source a Presidential administration would wanna hang its hat on!! 🤨

  4. These are battles. The real war – IMO – will be when he bombs Iran. He WANTS TO! That’s why there are 6 B2 Stealth bombers at Diego Garcia. Keep watching.

  5. The Supremes have no way to.enforce their decision. Federal courts rely of federal marshals to enforce their decrees. Fedwral.marshals can only be involved if the AG doesn’t tell them.to.stand down. Bleached Bondi will tell them to sit on their hand under their butts.

That leaves the power of the purse. Congress could and should withhold funds for payment to ,El.Salvador. They won’t. If a miracle occurred and enough Republicans grew a spine and voted with the Dems,Trump would just transfer funds r from.programs he doesn’t like, like Medicaid,Medicare and Social.Security.

In a sane administration, just the original decision would have shut down this insanity. But Trump and his minions live in a cloud cuckooland which has little relationship with actual reality. I don’t know how we win, short of SCOTUS getting the military involved, the Guard. And they can’t call out the military, only Trump, and the Guard can only be called out by a governor.n

  6. Here’s a thought. People have been talking about this Abrego Garcia case (which obviously does not apply only to him) as a violation of due process. And of course it is that. But it’s also something even worse : Violation of due process means there is a legal procedure in which due process has not been observed. But there is NO LAW whatsoever allowing the U.S. to send prisoners to foreign prisons financed by the U.S. This is absolutely unconstitutional. The violation of due process refers to the judiciary aspect. But as for the penalty, there is no process that would make that legal.
I think as long s the SCOTUS prohibits this stuff, lower courts could successfully block such actions provided the plaintiffs are right on top of it.
