Trump Is Attacking A Major Donor For Using ‘RINOs’ At Her PAC

First Trump went out of is way to go to Georgia and attack a well-like GOP Governor. In the process of slamming Brian Kemp (and others) Trump put Georgia back into play. That’s AFTER Kemp and the legislature put serious effort into skewing things to make it easier for Trump. Now voters and even GOP elected officials are showing signs of ‘screw him then, we won’t sabotage him but we aren’t going out of our way to help anymore.’  That is bad and has make lots of Republicans nervous. However now Trump’s opening attacking a HUGE GOP donor who’d committed roughly 100 million bucks after re-activated a PAC. Sheldon Adelson might have died and is now roasting in hell but his wife Miriam took up where Sheldon left off, pumping huge sums into GOP coffers. She might be rethinking that.

According to The Daily Beast Trump’s ‘human printer’ has been blowing up Adelson’s phone with angry texts/messages. You know the gal I’m talking about from Trump’s trial in Manhattan that resulted in him becoming a convicted FELON. Her job is to follow Trump around with a portable battery powered printer. She finds stuff on the internet praising Trump or putting out b.s. ‘alternative facts” that he’ll like and hand them to him. To soothe his ego.  Anyway Trump’s gone round the bend over Adelson having hired RINOs to work at her 100 million Save America PAC.  So, Trump has his aforementioned aide Natalie Harp sending nastygrams to Adelson:

The messages said that her late husband Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino boss who was a major Republican and Trump donor, would not have allowed such aides to be involved in his operations. Trump was close to both Adelsons for many years and gave Miriam the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2018.

The linked article says it’s unclear how much of Adelson’s personal 27.5 billion fortune is part of the hundred million dollar PAC. However, it does note that after her husband died she took over the reins and continued to spend big on the GOP. In June (back when even then Trump was lagging behind in fundraising) she opened up the cash spigot. She was prepared to probably wind up donating far more than 100 million because she intended to help not just Trump but other GOP candidates.  However, despite her friendship with Trump she’s not part of his Mar A Lago crowd hanging out with him all the time. Apparently aides around Trump fear he’s being ‘manipulated’ according to the NY Times’ Maggie Haberman. The situation is still murky but according to the linked article:

In the case of the texts to Adelson, The Times reported that Adelson’s aides had “discovered” that Ike Perlmutter, the former Marvel Entertainment boss and a Mar-a-Lago member who is a longtime friend of Trump, had encouraged the text, appaparently because he wanted Adelson to contribute to a different super PAC. Perlmutter, 81, was also involved in the failed bid by another billionaire octogenarian Trump associate, Nelson Peltz, 82, to force Bob Iger out as CEO of Disney.

Who the hell knows what’s going on with Trump and his inner circle these days? It was chaotic before but we might be moving to a whole new level of crazy. Trump has always loved having those beneath him fighting with each other. However this is a really bad time to be ramping up that particular office version of blood sport that entertains him.  However this is Trump we are talking about and the snowball of his DE-volution is growing and heading down the hill with increasing speed.  Into a pit of molten lava.

First he puts Georgia back into play. If you really want to have fun think about THIS tantalizing possibility – Trump is very, very unhappy with DeSantis. Senator Rick Scott is also up for re-election and I’m not sure he’s exactly Trump’s buddy either. The state of Florida for years had a Democratic Party that for all intents and purposes had given up. It’s hardly been rebuilt BUT a lot of organizing is going on because of a ballot initiative to enshrine abortion rights into the state’s Constitution.  The GOP has turned the state into a mess with insurance rates people can’t afford, people in condos facing six figure assessments and other problems. And DeSantis and the GOP are fighting the abortion amendment while Trump is trying to straddle the issue. That whole thing could boil over and put FLORIDA and a GOP held Senate seat in play.  At least enough that Trump and the GOP have to expend time and money on defense.  That brings me back to Adelson.

Unlike Trump she’s a true, hard core conservative and has a working brain. She sees the big picture. She is interested in much more than Trump’s re-election. That’s why instead of just writing a hundred million dollar check to Trump/ HIS PACs  with the promise of more she reactivated her own.  As a duel U.S. Israeli citizen she’d far prefer Trump back in the WH because he’d give Netanyahu free rein. However, some of what Trump did like moving our embassy to Jerusalem can’t be undone so she got much of what she and her late husband wanted.

What this could mean is a mix of good and bad for our side. She might just, at least when it comes to Trump proverbially take her game ball and go home and leave Trump without anything to play with. And instead give money to various other GOP candidates that would have gone to Trump. That’s money in addition to what’s already being spent or will be. Hey, I told you there was a bad aspect to this.

Still, ALL of this has to be making the GOP increasingly nervous.  Trump is willing to viciously attack a Governor of a state he desperately needs.  Now he’s attacking one of the GOP’s biggest mega-donors. He’s flailing and lashing out because he’s losing ground and doesn’t have the ability to stop what’s happening.  The GOP that’s not drunk on the Kool Aid is stuck with Trump because Trump controls the MAGAs and the Evangelicals. Without both (yes, I realize there’s crossover) the GOP is royally screwed.  If more donors follow what I think Adelson might do, and Trump makes a huge public deal out of trashing them the ripple effects could build into something much larger than ripples.  So far this is just one more Trump meltdown but keep an eye on it. It could turn out to be a really big deal before long.
