It’s exactly what you are thinking, although that’s not officially known yet. But considering the size of the fail, failure can really only be one thing. It was doomed from the start because no one thought about certain things they should have. It’s about the ego. Many thanks to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump’s escalating military campaign against Iran is achieving the “opposite” of its intended effect, according to a senior U.S. official cited in a New York Times report Saturday. “The official said the strikes have the opposite effect of what is intended, keeping Iran cohesive and allowing Iranian leaders to focus attention on an external threat,” the Times’ report reads.
No one here ever thought about that, either. No one thought about the Strait of Hormuz. No one thought about all the container ships with products needed at the end of the Strait in either direction. We’re not just talking about oil, here. There was fertilizer, desperately needed not just here, but around the world. That means a lower crop yield. Then farmers don’t have any help for the harvest, thanks to Stephen Miller, and Gnome, and Markwayne, and so it dies. Then they don’t have enough crop to sell and end up going bankrupt. How is this helping our farmers? How does it help anyone on the northern half of the world grow things? No one thought of looking at intel about Iran and satellite pictures of where different things are located. No one THOUGHT.
The assessment came after insiders leaked details to the Times about a Friday meeting between Trump and his top advisers and Cabinet members, where officials weighed whether or not to escalate the war further. According to the Times, few, if any, in Trump’s inner circle believed intensifying the bombing campaign was wise. A separate senior official who was briefed on the discussion expressed doubts that resuming major combat operations would push Iran back to the table at all. The “private deliberations” focused on what officials warned was the Pentagon’s “shrinking inventory of Patriot interceptors and other air defenses,” the Times reported.
Shrinking Inventory. Gee, ya think??!! We were blowing through millions of dollars a day of our munitions, which didn’t do a damn bit of good that we know of. They likely didn’t do any good at all, explosions or not. Now they’re looking at bombing civilian infrastructure on the remote possibility that Iran’s military could use it. Hooey!! And someone is too self-important to admit he screwed up badly. Now Trump is stuck; *we* are stuck in a forever war and Iran holds the cards. Who didn’t listen to advice when they started this thing?
“Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has cautioned privately that resuming major combat operations against Iran was doable but that it would dangerously deplete interceptors available to the military’s Central Command, which is responsible for operations in the Middle East, the officials said,” the Times’ report reads. Earlier this week, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told a congressional committee that Trump’s deeply unpopular war against Iran had cost taxpayers $37.5 billion so far. The internal skepticism adds to a growing list of signs that the administration’s approach to Iran isn’t producing the results Trump has publicly promised, even as the financial and human costs of the conflict continue to climb.
WHAM. $37.5 BILLION dollars thus far. We and Iran are still throwing bombs back and forth, so that total is going to increase a little bit every day. There’s the whole situation with the ships out there and resupplies and ship maintenance and so on, which is a whole subject all on its own. We still don’t know if there was any sort of plan for this war. By this point, it seems doubtful. Oh, for 10 minutes with General Caine to ask a few questions with yes or no answers, including did they override him at the beginning of the war. He has to have experience and leadership qualities to make it to the rank of general. Who the hell’s idea was this war anyhow?

Since we’re this far into the war, with no plan, no goal, it’s prettydarn late to formulate a cogent plan to proceed on. The article explains in excruciating detail how bad we’ve screwn up (new word I made up) and how depleted our munitions are.
“Okay, here’s a plan, men: go in there with guns a-blazin’, take out as many as you can, Slick on the left, Slacker on the right, and we’ll make them sorry for not letting us destroy their country. Better yet, let’s pack up and go home.”
Trump needs to go now! Don’t fart around with impeachment (didn’t work), don’t bother with the 25th (no time for that idea), and pry him out of office SOMEHOW. With 3 months left before the election, Repubs will be scurrying around like a decapitated chicken trying to figure out how to proceed. ETTD.
