A few weeks ago this was still the stuff of satire. But as of this morning, Donald Trump finally leaped off the final (well, for now) cliff of logic and he’s got a way to “go back to when we had a smart country” and eliminate income taxes. Ain’t it grand? And the government will run how, now? Welllll, there will have to be a few changes, of course. And this is one of those moments where you hold your breath and wonder, “Oh my God, is anybody stupid enough to believe this?” Because Trump is counting on America’s stupidity. He has put all his chips on the old P.T. Barnum axiom, “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public,” except in this case it’s, “Nobody ever got elected underestimating the stupidity of the American public.”

That, friends, is exactly the world that Trump wants you to return to. He wants his rich buddies to be happy and have what’s good in this world and for 99% of us to have nothing. That’s his brave new vision, as he hands out toad burgers through the drive-thru window at McDonald’s. On this occasion, Matt Drudge says it best.

I suspect that along with nixing income tax, payroll taxes will also go away. There is one thing that is certain: trump cares nothing at all about S.S., Medicare, Medicaid, or anything that doesn’t put money into his fat ass pockets. Of course his cult members only hear no more income tax all the while forgetting everything they would lose in such a scheme. And once they get rid of income tax the rest would follow. We would be plopped back into the 1890’s so fast their heads would spin right off of their necks.
These people are not bright and unfortunately the only way they would learn would be to experience the horrors another trump administration would bring. Unfortunately for them they’ll just have to stay stupid since most of the nation thinks that is WAY to high a price to pay just so they can learn what they should have learned in H.S.
And not just about taxes. It has to hurt them directly and inarguably. Apply for a car loan? Too poor. Want to buy a house? Not enough momey; rent from.your landlord worth 800,000,000.
Ran across a news story that exemplifies this. A woman who was a,wild-eyed anti-choice activity changed her tune when she needed an abortion. Now she believes abortion is healthcare!

The dumbing down of America began when schools stopped teaching real history and civics when the switched to social studies. That couple in Texas who reviewed textbooks have a lot tp answer for because publishers had to cater to such a huge market as TX to.make a profit and the couple demanded books conform to conservative Christian doctrine, forget facts.
When Trump loses and after we win the Second Civil War, how can we ever hope to quell what Trumpism loosed on us? A scary-large percentage of the country has the mentality of adolescent boys laughing at dick jokes and screaming, “stick it to the man!” But, these are adult men and women who ARE “the man” and have to be relied on to raise families, have jobs, pay taxes, run businesses, operate the government, grow older, collect their Medicare/SS, and keep the country chugging along! I don’t imagine that people will snap out of it. If they come out of it slowly will we have a period of deep national depression during which people will seek the next charismatic cult leader and we’ll be worse off?! Just askin’!
Eliminating income tax by having us pay for through the nose in terms of tariff sales taxes on everything we buy is hugely favorable for rich people – Trump, his buddies, and his rich donors.
Think about it for a minute. The poor spend 100% of their meager income on the necessities of life. That would mean 100% of their income would be heavily taxed. The middle class probably spends 80% of their income, and that amount would be heavily taxed. The rich spend maybe 20% or less of their income, saving the rest. So, for them, they would get taxed on 20% or probably less than that, on their total income.
This is just one more way of making sure the rich don’t have to pay their fair share, while taxing the hell out of the rest of us.
