Donald Trump’s nappy time is the damnedest thing I have ever seen in my life. Admittedly I haven’t spent lots of time in courtrooms but the times I was there, there was never a sleeping defendant. That is a brand new one on me. And since this is a criminal trial, where the stakes are infinitely higher, I can’t imagine anybody not being razor sharp as their future, their bank account and their personal liberty was being deliberated over. Nevertheless, Trump was asleep in court again today and his lawyer, Todd Blanche, had to repeatedly prod him to get him to wake up, as the jury was leaving. If I was Blanche, I would have left the dummy there to sleep and let the janitors wake him up with their mops and buckets.

Personally, I can’t imagine anything more stimulating than listening to charges being argued against me, but then Trump isn’t wired like the yous and mes.

That was this morning, folks. Here’s now. A Fox News host dared to interject a soupcon of reality into the discussion and you don’t do that and stay on Trump’s good side.

And this is incomprehensible.

It was all about the ratings in Trump world, last I knew. So apparently this is how Trump’s dealing with the jury deliberating. He’s asleep at the courthouse, then when he wakes up in the late afternoon, he turns on Fox News and starts critiquing them. I guess it’s a way to cope.

I hope Mary Trump will chime in at some point with an explanation of her uncle’s behavior. At least she knows him and she’s a mental health professional. Maybe she can parse through this oddball behavior and share an insight with us.

  1. ‘Nappy time’ I just LOVE that
Over here we call diapers ‘nappies’ so it fits in both senses on this side of the pond

  2. Either he’s taking sedatives or this is his way of blocking out reality. He may so delusional as to actually inhabit a world of his own creation. Could this be a kind of schizophrenia?

  3. I’ve thought all along that they probably dose him up in the morning to keep him calm. I’ve seen that happen with patients in care facilities, especially if the patient is difficult. A little something in the coffee with breakfast, then it’s nap time. It would certainly fit here. Maybe they should give a little more with lunch, then with dinner. Anything to shut him up.
