This is ridiculous. His claims are always being fact-checked. He’s always about big numbers that are lies. How many other things has he claimed he did? A lot. But the numbers never support what he claims. This one is outside the usual crap about the economy, jobs, and prices. It could be considered small compared to the usual claims. But it actually isn’t, and the person who unexpectedly fact-checked him is someone who would know. With thanks to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump bragged this week that his endorsement caused sales to skyrocket on a book — but even the author of that book is calling this out as nonsense, The Daily Beast reported on Friday evening. “Trump boasted at the White House Christmas reception earlier this month that he had boosted sales for Venom and Valor: A White House Physician Assistant’s Battle for Survival in the Amazon, written by his former medical adviser, Dr. James Jones, by promoting it in a Truth Social post,” reported Erkki Forster. Jones himself, who wrote the book about a year ago, was reportedly in the audience during this speech.
As mentioned, someone who would know. One would think that this would really embarrass Trump, but it didn’t. It’s unlikely that he will remember much about this in a few days. You can’t embarrass someone who is indifferent, who doesn’t care. We would be. Trump isn’t. Is it a blessing or a curse? There’s no answer for that.
“It sold about two copies, but it had a hell of a cover,” Trump said. “I put it out: ‘Great book. Bop bop bop,’ picture of this viper, coming like, boom from the White House. And his publisher calls him, said, ‘Doctor, what happened? What’s going on?’… They sold 100,000 books.” That’s not true, Jones told NOTUS.
Nope, nope, nope. It probably helped a bit, but not as much as he claimed. It’s getting pitiful. Seems like every day Trump boasts about something, and every day he is fact-checked and shown he is wrong. Of course, most of *us* would check ourselves before speaking out (like we do here). I don’t get it. We don’t get Trump these days. He’s so damn random it almost hurts.
“I don’t think it’s a massive bump, but, you know, I’m sure it didn’t hurt anything. But I haven’t seen anything that’s excessive,” said Jones, who added that Trump never consulted with him before giving his book a boost — something that, according to NOTUS, has been a running pattern with the authors Trump promotes. While Jones, who also served under former President Barack Obama, did not write his book explicitly about the president, all of this comes amid data that shows the general public is souring on reading about Trump. Sales of books about the president have plummeted in this term, compared to Trump’s first term.
BOOM. Lies, lies, lies. One would think he would at least consult with the author(s) before saying something. And with interest in anything written about Trump going downhill, many would NOT want his endorsement, as it would slow sales to a mere trickle. It hurts more than it helps. Trump needs to stand back and stand *down*. Stay away from this clown. He’s lethal.
