This is a plan which Donald Trump came right out and discussed. Of course, two can play at that game because all’s fair in love and war and politics is both. Ask Gavin Newsom, he’s perfectly content to take Trump’s plan and throw it back in his face in California, as you’ll see from the videos below.

Go ahead, Donald. Knock yourself out. The part that is always so fascinating is that Trump’s version of the GOP is continuously saying how they represent the voice of the people and they are indestructible — while drawing up plans to cheat, simultaneously. This is usually the stuff of smoke-filled back rooms, but not in the Trump era. He just puts it all out there because he’s too stupid to know better.

“Just spoke to our Great Congressmen and women of Texas,” wrote Trump on Truth Social, Tuesday. “I keep hearing about Texas ‘going Blue,’ but it is just another Democrat LIE. With the right Candidate, Texas isn’t ‘going Blue’ anytime soon!”

Trump may be crowing this now but if he keeps persecuting Hispanics and having ICE come crashing through the doors of American citizens, under the mistaken belief that illegal immigrants live there (and this has happened in Texas) voters may not be so enchanted in 2026.

Voters may also may not be so enchanted the way that the Kerrville floods were handled either. Just a passing thought.

  1. I got quite a kick out of him very publicly saying he’s encouraging Texas to redraw some maps in order to eliminate Democratic seats in the House, but if someone else were to do it to eliminate gop seats, it would be corrupt as hell.

It’s only wrong when Dems do it!

This is just one option to hold onto power, don’t think it’s as far as he’ll go. Remember when he told his voters that all they had to do was to be sure to vote in 2024? That after that, they would have it all fixed!

  2. Well, there is a big problem with any attempt to redraw any maps at this point: We are 4 years past the census redistricting as required by the Constitution. And ANY map that’s changed at this point will have to survive LEGAL challenges–first at a state level, then at the federal level (including the Supreme Court).
The only reason that maps have been challenged in the past 3 years is because the states (red ones, most notably) have indulged in the blatant gerrymandering that not even SCOTUS was willing to let slide.
But, if Drumpf wants to play this little game, there are some “blue” states that could probably engage in some gerrymandering that would severely reduce (if not eliminate entirely) some red seats. California right now has 43 Democrats compared to just 9 GOPers in the US House. Currently, 7 of those Democrats represent districts that are less than D+5 per Cook. Another Democrat actually represents an R+1 district. And 4 of the GOP districts are less than R+5 (only 2 districts are R+10 or more).
Oregon has only 1 GOP district compared to 5 Democratic districts. And while that GOP district is R+14, with the right amount of creative gerrymandering, the GOP could lose it.
Washington State has 10 House members, 8 Democrats and 2 GOPers. One of the Dems represents an R+2 district and only one of the GOPers is in an R+10 or better district, the other’s in an R+5 district so a little creative gerrymandering could turn those seats blue as well.
