This is one thing he should be looking at, although he never does. It would behoove him to figure out what the entertainment for the Great American State Fair is doing and why. He never does. He prefers not to think, except when he’s cheating at golf. He doesn’t see the trouble with the Republicans for the midterms, so why should he try to look at his fair? (And may it tank royally.) He has people to (mostly) think for him. We don’t know if any one of them has figured out why it’s bombing. Perhaps they don’t think, either. Respect for Raw Story:
As the multi-day festival, organized in part by President Donald Trump, designed to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary, continues to fall apart, former presidential speechwriter David Frum flagged on Sunday what he believed was behind the event’s ever-increasing list of problems. Dubbed the Great American State Fair, the event was organized by the Trump-linked organization Freedom 250, with Trump himself being “actively involved” in the process. A live music concert was initially planned for the event, but may be cancelled after “nearly all” performers backed out after learning of the event’s connections to Trump.
Yup. They said oh, hail no, or something to that effect. They may not know what it’s called, but ETTD is completely true. They’re not willing to paint targets on their backs and play at a “Trump involved” event. Smart people. Very. We should flee in the opposite direction. They could still have a Kid Rock concert. He and Trump are buddies, after all. Except Kid Rock’s music is not going to be a big draw for the “red” people. Rap has its own mostly niche fan base.
“You might have thought that presiding over such a celebration would be an easy success for Trump. He is a showman after all,” Frum wrote in an analysis published Sunday in The Atlantic. “He loves parades and extravaganzas. It was all an easy layup, a gimme, a chance for a now-unpopular second-term president to reinvent himself as the leader of all of the American people.” The Trump administration has scrambled in the wake of performers bailing on the event en masse.
Oops. A simple chance for him to try to overcome his hemorrhaging base. He’s losing the people. Just look at the giant mess of his first year and 4 months. Look at all the explosively blown-up promises. And then there’s the war. Almost no one in America wanted that war. You will always see war hawks. (Hello, Lindsey Graham.) We can be certain there are holdouts in the country. But as time has gone by, people are starting to open their eyes to what Trump actually is. It’s about damn time.
And, as the chaos continues to unfold, Frum believes he knows exactly why the event has appeared to crumble. “The only thing he had to do was – for once in his life – not act like an insane egomaniac,” Frum wrote. “He couldn’t do it.” Frum argued that the event’s failure was all but admitted to by Trump, citing a social media post the president published on Saturday evening, which Frum described as an “indictment of his own program.” “Cancel it,” Trump wrote, referring to the Great American State Fair.
Now, that was unexpected. Apparently, this was supposed to be a music festival. My understanding was completely off base. Drat. However, note that Trump gave up on it. That has to be a first, coming from the man who never admits to failure. No, Hell has not frozen over. What about the people doing the setup, the sound, the lighting?? They’ll probably get stiffed. *That* is the usual Trump way.
