Someone has come out and said it straight up in language that is impossible to misunderstand. They can’t spin this one anymore. They cannot bluff and prevaricate. Republicans got another eye-opener last night, and it’s a doozy! Overconfidence is a problem. They need to admit what they don’t want to see and start working, because that blue wave is coming. From Raw Story:
Democrats lost a hard-fought special election in a deep-red Tennessee congressional district, but CNN’s Harry Enten said the results should send a shiver down Republicans’ spines. Republican Matt Van Epps defeated Democratic state Rep. Aftyn Behn in a district President Donald Trump won by nearly 22 points last year, and Enten told “CNN News Central” the results predicted a midterm beatdown looming for the GOP. [Aftyn only lost by 9 points.]
Yes, they should be worried. That’s really a small amount compared to what Trump won by. That’s quite a gap we closed. And what’s to say she can’t try again for another position? She has the support. Van Epps may not be sweating bullets now, but. But. Republicans thought they’d wipe the floor with her, so for it to come out like this is one helluva an eye opener.
“Republicans should be running for the hills this morning because the blue wave is building,” Enten said. “What are we talking about here? Well, Van Epps, Matt Van Epps, the Republican candidate, he won it by nine. But this is a district that Donald Trump won by 22 points – 15 points, 17 points. This is a 13-point gain for the Democrats in terms of the margin, and the excuse time for Republicans is over because I hear all about these special elections, all the turnout is so low. It’s not representative of what happened in the midterm election. The turnout last night in Tennessee’s seventh district was equal to the turnout in the 2022 midterm election. So, the blue wave seems to be building right out of the center of Tennessee.”
Oh, yes. A deep red state where Democrats had a damn good turnout for a special election. There are a lot of people who should sit up and take notice. We have been stomped on enough. We need to take our country back. Enough of this wishy-washy nonsense. Business needs to get done. Republicans can’t skate around and rest on their laurels, confident in their majorities and figuring they are under Trump’s version of “protected”. Some have seen the writing on the wall and said “enough”. Others have decided they’ve had enough of the cowflops being flung from above. But we can be almost certain that many others still think they’ll just skate through, even when it’s already been proven that the party is in trouble.
Democrats have outperformed Kamala Harris in each of this year’s special elections, in Arizona, Florida, Texas, Virginia, and now Tennessee, and Enten said that strongly suggests gains in next year’s election. “We have seen the Democratic outperformance of Kamala Harris happening across the political map,” Enten said. “What happened last night in Tennessee ain’t just staying in Tennessee. It is spreading throughout the nation. As I said, to me, looking at these results, it looks like a blue wave is building. We actually have history to show that what happens in special elections doesn’t just stay in special elections. It spills over to the midterm results, special elections, and midterm results.”
How about “dem” apples? Now, it was surprising that Democrats outperformed Kamala. It would have been better if we outperformed Republicans, but Kamala had a lot to overcome and made a pretty damn good showing. *We* knew the right thing to do, and that was to vote for her. It’s going to be a regret for a long, long time. She’s missed, especially after less than a year of Trump. But now, we have a chance to show the US that we’re back and better than ever. It’s going to be one hell of a tsunami that’s going to hit, and that’s something to look forward to.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Well, Behn should have a chance to repeat next year since was a SPECIAL election and the seat WILL be up again next year so Van Epps only has about six months to prove himself to his constituents (possibly less if there’s another GOPer itching to run–I don’t know how the special election primary played out on the GOP side; Van Epps might have made an enemy or two during the primary, eager to challenge him again) that he deserves a full term.
They can’t admit it. They are like HOA Karen’s with a control complex.
