Well, this is a lovely thing! The curators restored something that had been taken down, and the subject might as well give up, because it’s not getting taken down again. A child had cried and complained because they didn’t like the exhibit. It seems that the curators have had enough. With appreciation for Raw Story:
The Smithsonian Institution restored a key detail about Trump’s first administration when unveiling the updated wall text for his national portrait, the New York Times reported [Subscription required]
The updated wall text accompanying Trump’s image at the National Portrait Gallery, unveiled Friday, will again mention his impeachments during his first term in office, the Times reported.
The original text brought up that Trump was “impeached twice, on charges of abuse of power and incitement of insurrection after supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021,” but noted that “he was acquitted by the Senate in both trials,” per the report.
Aw yea. We need to make it 3 impeachments and make it stick. He has done so many things, and they have all been bad. Look at how Americans are slowly being flattened because he keeps adding to it. There are many things to go on that list. It’s almost too many to count. But we have something good called No Kings. They keep growing, and now the world has joined in solidarity. But back to the Smithsonian and Trump.
Historians had been assured by the Smithsonian that “the removal was part of a larger revamp of how an exhibition at the gallery that focuses on American presidents presents information,” according to the Times.
The impeachments are now listed with other “important events” in his administration, including the Abraham Accords, the development of COVID vaccines through Operation Warp Speed, the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, and the George Floyd protests in 2020.
The Times noted that “the new format, which is also used to describe other presidents, is more of a historical fact sheet” and omits any mention of why Trump was impeached. However, “the impeachment of Bill Clinton is included in wall text next to his portrait,” the NYT reported.
It should be quite an event if Trump ever finds out about it. We might be able to see the explosion from home. That would be lovely if we could get rid of him by it. But no such luck. Mother Nature is doing her job with him. But if Clinton’s portrait has his impeachment next to his picture, Trump will, too. It seems he has been getting more and more pushback when he tries to abuse his power. Now we need to get the Kennedy Center building restored, not ruined. I really hope that something happens with it so it gets done properly, and not Trump-ified. His ego needs to be flattened.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
