He’s fabulous. Completely unbothered by Trump, which subtly says a lot. He knew what Trump was like from “day one’. He’s not afraid of him, no, not at all. Trump should give up attacking him because it’s really, really pointless. But he won’t because it’s Trump. Trump never admits he loses. We lost the war, and Trump keeps insisting a peace deal is in the works. Pope Leo is doing good deeds in the world. Even without being Catholic, Pope Leo for the win. With gratitude to Raw Story:
Pope Leo XIV has made clear he has no interest in continuing his public feud with Donald Trump. During his 11-day African tour, the pontiff firmly rejected the notion that he’s been debating the American president, insisting his peace message transcends partisan politics.
According to Politico, Leo addressed the spiraling controversy that has dominated headlines all week. “There’s been a certain narrative that has not been accurate in all of its aspects, but because of the political situation created when, on the first day of the trip, the president of the United States made some comments about myself,” Leo said.
Yes, he certainly did. It was uncalled for. It was Trump trying to make himself bigger than the Pope. It hasn’t worked, and it’s not going to work. Pope Leo has the respect and probably the love that Trump doesn’t have. Pope Leo is apolitical. He can make any statements about war that he wishes, and his people will accept them. War is not something he condones.
“Much of what has been written since then has been more commentary on commentary, trying to interpret what has been said.” The Pope was defending his remarks at a peace meeting in Bamenda, Cameroon — a city at the epicenter of a separatist conflict ravaging the country’s Anglophone region for nearly a decade. In those remarks, Leo had blasted the “handful of tyrants” who were ravaging Earth with war and exploitation, Politico is reporting.
Hmmmm, could that include Pootie? How did that idea come into my head *cough*? We do have a handful of tyrants, and they *are* ravaging the world. Russia fits right into that. And we know Putin will ignore it. Trump is falling into his own attempted trap by taking on Pope Leo. He is a smart and caring man, while Trump is not. Trump can’t outdo him because there is no competition. It’s the religious leader of Catholics making a statement that all need to hear. Trump is losing his base faster and faster. Pope Leo is most certainly not.
Leo emphasized the remarks predated Trump’s attacks. “My remarks were written two weeks ago, long before Trump’s criticisms began,” he explained, undercutting Trump’s narrative that the Pope was specifically targeting him. “And yet as it happens, it was looked at as if I was trying to debate again the president, which is not in my interest at all,” Leo said, making clear he views the controversy as a distraction. Looking forward, the Pope signaled his priorities lie elsewhere. “I primarily come to Africa as a pastor, as the head of the Catholic Church, to be with, to celebrate with, to encourage and accompany all the Catholics throughout Africa.”
Pope Leo is most *certainly* the better man. Trump is nothing next to him. And once Trump finds out that the pope has no interest in “going up against him”, the Truth Social rants will fly. It just doesn’t matter what Trump does as far as Pope Leo is concerned. He has many better things to do with his time. And when he speaks out against the wars, we should cheer him. People will listen to Pope Leo long after they’ve lost interest in Trump, assuming they had any at all. The sooner Trump leaves office and shuffles off this mortal coil. (I hope I got that saying right), the better off we and the world will be.
