This is a good thing to recall as we wind up 2024. Donald Trump promised (and you know that everything he promises always comes to pass, right?) to do a number of things on his first day in office — yes, the day when he will be dictator, but only for that one day, tee hee hee. Isn’t that a thigh slapper? Trump promised faithfully to end the Ukraine/Russia war in LESS than 24 hours. Is all that blithering idiocy coming back to you? In any event, it sounded stupid then and it only sounds more stupid now. And I’m going to lay odds right now that if there is one tape and one promise that Trump does not want people to remember, it’s this one. He definitely does not want anybody to hold his feet to the fire on this one.

Mark it down. On January 20 Trump takes office. So by January 21 the war will be over. Great. Let’s see how he does that.
Ooops. That doesn’t look so good. Does that mean that it might take two days then, for Trump to achieve peace? Anybody?
That’s it. He’s got a concept of a plan. How stupid of us not to have realized.
The pressure is going to mount. I daresay as we enter the new year that some journalist, or some wag, will compile a list of Trump’s promises and the time line in which they will be achieved — according to him. Then we can make a Trump Calendar and tick off each promise and each date. It could become a drinking game, maybe.
On January 6th 2020, after lying about the election, before and after, 60+ lost court cases, strong arming states with threats and fake electors, etc, he called for armed protesters, who he knew were armed, and set them violently against Congress to full stop DEMOCRACY. He then ran to safety, and with the official and unofficial power, he sat gleefully watching 140 police get attacked. Ultimately five died as a result of HIS actions. The crowd broke in, damaging priceless historical artifacts, smeared feces on the floors and walls, and the VP had to run for his life. A woman was shot trying to bust into the chamber after repeated warnings. America, the tv culture we are, watched it all on tv THAT DAY and on tape for months. The January 6th committee exposed it all as his handiwork. THEN American voters put that traitor in power. What difference does any of his stupid inconsistencies make now I wonder? Catastrophe. That will, and, I’m afraid, given the blindfold of consumerism wrapped tightly around the eyes of the public…it will require a real shock like Pearl Harbor of 1941 that led an isolationist public to war. I hope I’m wrong.
It turned out that half of America doesn’t care about the lives of Capitol.Police (despite the GOP.supposedly being the party of law and order)or the Capitol (despite the party that worships the past but only the antebellum South) ot the protection of women ( despite having no problem with inequality and misogyny or rape).
But we all knew that was pretty lies. The GOP is the party of racism, misogyny, and wealth.
Realize: you will have ping pong brain for the next four years. To survive – do NOT believe 99.9% of what he says. Our allies must and react / act / respond accordingly. We do NOT. We need to look for ways to protest and resist. I’m not aware yet of anything other than NOT watching the inauguration. At all – not even any blurbs for the days after. Wouldn’t surprise me if he points to Harris and the other POTUS’s and say something nasty. Will they stand up against him during his tenure?
I plan to stay awake until 8 a.m. and sleep.through it. It would only be worth watching if the Bible on which he must place his tiny hamster paw burst into flames and s so did his cheap, badly tailored suit.
