It’s looking worse and worse for them every day. Like Trump, it was every so often, and then every week, and now it seems to be every few days. Being associated with Trump is turning into an almost death sentence these days. Who has and hasn’t figured this out? They had better wake up soon because Trump is skiing downhill since he’s doing so badly. It’s beyond slipping and sliding. My indebtedness to Raw Story:

While the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran has sent oil prices soaring, with the national average cost for a tank of gas recently eclipsing $4, experts are now forecasting $6-per-gallon prices as early as this summer, a forecast that one media and political strategist said, if accurate, would lead to an “extinction-level event” for Republicans in the midterms.

That’s almost, but not quite, an understatement. If the prices keep rolling up, that’s going to be painful for everyone, including our truckers. How are people going to get to work? Or go shopping for groceries where the prices are jumping up, too? It’s because of Trump’s war, mostly, at least. And we are not the only ones suffering through oil problems. The rest of the world is, too. Oil is used for a lot more than fuel and power.

President Donald Trump kicked off the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran in late February, prompting Iran to shut off U.S.-aligned vessels from accessing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping channel through which 20% of the world’s oil trade flows. As a result, oil prices have increased to levels not seen since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and show no signs of easing. Increasingly, experts have forecast that national average gas prices could rise as high as $6 a gallon this year. Online prediction markets such as Kalshi are also now showing gas prices reaching $6 this year as more likely than not.

This does not give me warm, fuzzy feelings of confidence. It’s becoming more than a concern. It’s on the way to becoming a major problem. It’s hard to imagine the price being that high. But we may be seeing this, and not have to imagine it. It’s going to hurt everyone. Now add in the fuel surcharge. Oof. Because of Trump, the world is screwed. S.O.B.

Should the gas price forecasts be proven accurate, Kurt Bardella, a NewsNation contributor and political strategist, predicted a bloodbath for Republicans this November. “If this holds, it won’t be a ‘blue wave’ in November, it’ll be an extinction-level event that wipes out the GOP,” Bardella wrote in a social media post on X. Grant Stern, executive editor of Occupy Democrats, added that $6-per-gallon gas “may not be the ceiling ,” suggesting experts could be underestimating the war’s impact on oil prices.

*Under*estimating? Good grief. Thank heavens my beloved hubby is working from home. I’m looking to do that too. We don’t see much about the war except news articles, but the jump in gas prices will bring the pain undeniably, right “in our faces” at home. There aren’t many places that are within walking distance near here. It’s all about the driving, and gas prices are only one small facet of this damn mess. Lawdy, get us out of this war!

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
